Lea, summer 2025. She just put out an excellent moody fuzzy ambienty nighttime folk record as @thisismiyaxx which I highly recommend listening to from start to end after darkness falls, especially if you like Slowdive, Grouper, pondering the nature of humanity, pulling petals from a rose, the warm hue of old street lights, or feeling cleansed by a wall of fuzzy guitars.

Good morning! Things are more or less going well these days. The last bit of summer is hanging on like a vacant spider web that caught a fly. I’m emerging from three moons of a manic haze that the heat rudely cast upon me. My September calendar is overflowing, making plans is like trying to find a parking space in a crowded, grid-locked lot where no one is actually driving the other cars, they are all waymos.

❤️I’m playing a solo show on September 17th, opening for the record release of @thisismiyaxx at our @theavalonlounge !

My goal is to do more of this, just pick-up-and-go-show-playing, I’ve worked out a set of songs for just that, so follow this advertisment to the Avalon lounge on Thursday evening! Sweet and easy 🍒

This week on Songs of Our Lives, it’s John Thayer! John’s been on an incredible run as of late, from his solo record, “Winds Gate,” to the collaboration with Ben Seratan, and now, a new album with his partner, Lea Thomas as Miyaxx. We get into all of that before sinking into King Tubby, Bobby McFerrin, Alice Coltrane, Jeff Buckley, Cyndi Lauper, Raffi, Karen Dalton, and plenty more!

Listen to it via Foxy Digitalis or wherever you listen to podcasts. Hear the full, unabridged convo exclusively on the Foxy Digitalis Patreon.

And pre-order the Miyaxx record today!

Our debut album, Hold Your Ego Out Like A Sun, arrives September 16. We are excited to share that our first song and video, “Blue Cloud White Sky” is out today. 🌀☁️

Nighttime fuzz folk, love songs for the cosmos, a walk in the woods at dusk, Miyaxx is an honest weaving of worlds between the two of us (@sonicmonkeywrencher and @lealeathomas). Looking forward to sharing more of what we’ve been stirring up.

A limited run of vinyl is now available for pre-order as well. All the links in @thisismiyaxx bio 📡 thank you for tuning in and keeping the antennae up to the magic all around us.

Last night in Kingston, NY we were gifted a two-part workshop featuring an introduction to Psychological First-Aid from @carozijine and a 30 minute ambient music session from @thisismiyaxx 🌿🎶🌿 We’re pretty sure we all slept deeply after this experience!

One of our takeaways from Caroline was about how the work of providing compassionate listening in the aftermath of a crisis can help people to find a foothold into the future again by reminding them that they are not alone.

We approached “hope” through this lens, which for us at Loam feels especially resonant when we consider the work of storytelling and publishing in the midst of so much systems failure.

Thank you Caroline for such a rich introduction to your work. We are grateful to be meeting and weaving with you!

We ended the evening with a pop-up from @chicorynaturalist 📖✨thank you Chris! If you’re in Kingston, NY please support this incredible local book seller📚

And as always no one wanted to leave one we wrapped🌀What a full and balanced evening. We love watching you all buzz and exchange phone numbers at the end of our events. This is what it’s all about🥲

Big gratitude to @goodworkinstitute for donating us this beautiful community space🐝

We are the sum of our community and today we are overflowing because of each of you who have showed up to make this tour possible. What a surreal and brilliant gift this has all been.

With love,
Kailea and Kate

The album comes out May 6 (!!) and the album launch show is happening May 24 (!!!) at the new sick spot Empire Stage. It would mean the🌏 if you could make it.

The link is in the bio. And you should buyo tickets and preorder the record on bandcamp!

This show is featuring the classic one and only nicomo band that we have all come to love - @gerardmarcus @phil.sellwood @_oropendola and nico.

The real thing about this show as that friends collaborators inspirations @miyaxx___ and @thanyaiyer are opening the show. Rare opportunities to hear them in NYC. They were all huge parts of the making of this record are the fucking best ever.

To top it all up to the brim, dear pal and absolute GURU @shane.levi AKA DJ Private Dancer is going to be a musical host of a boogie session, twirling records to make us spin.

Come hang don’t be shy.

And if you can’t make it or also if you can, sign up for the album listening party on the bandcamp!
