One thing I love about beauty is how it can make you feel something. Scent really makes you feel layers and the notes. When I was invited to the launch of Mood Stones … @kyliecosmetics newest fragrance collection from Kylie Jenner … I was inspired by the neutral tones and the bottles. So I got@out of my safe space … black on black. I did my makeup, hair and outfit to match the perfume bottle. Meet Cashmere Muse, Blush Wood and Velvet Brew, three fragrances, each made to evoke a different mood. I am stepping into my neutral era. I might not be here for a long time, but I’m definitely here for a good time. And I know someone’s going to comment that this is my best look because I’m not wearing all black. Can I be real for a moment. Sometimes I wonder how I got the opportunity to work with a brand as iconic as @lorealparis Sometimes my hands fail me and I blank and forget the next step in someone’s glam. I literally have to remind myself to take it one blend at a time. Then I’m at Le Défilé Paris Ruway Event surrounded by strong women who are unapologetically themselves, watching the one and only Céline Dion close the show … and I’m instantly re-inspired. I do have a beauty story to share and maybe just maybe sharing it helps us feel a little more connected and reminds someone else that they belong here too. “I’m worth it.” Last night somewhere between the Eiffel Tower to Toronto … @lorealparis transported us to Paris for their Le Défilé Runway Show inviting us to Express our Worth, celebrating women’s empowerment, inclusivity, freedom, confidence and sisterhood. Seeing people of every race, gender and size take the runway and own their worth was such an incredible reminder of how much this message matters. As a professional makeup artist, one of my favourite parts of the job is that moment after someone gets their makeup done. You can feel the shift in their confidence. They’re ready to take on whatever’s in front of them. Last night, I was reminded of that feeling. This is what almost 24 hours of making pretty people prettier looks like! Up at 3 AM to glam my client for a beauty conference, then straight to a segment on @thesocialctv honouring the late, great Dolly Parton and her fearless approach to beauty. I rushed home to get ready for the @womensempowermentawards and spend the evening with incredible women and changemakers supporting one another. Finally home to my hubby @steveparkhillfitness who was patiently waiting for me with his eyes closed but on high alert! I’m one of the lucky ones.
