Trusting the process pearl by pearl, until the moment the sun goes from lovely to violently blinding between 11h43 and 12h28, a necessary but unsolicited break.

(As I post any audio I must always make sure I don’t have the melodic banter of @redhandedthepod in the background. )

Scenes from the Seaside

I have always been someone who prefers to disappear into the studio, drawing the world inward rather than stepping out into it. When I close the door at the end of a day or a week, my work usually stays behind. The only traces of my practice travel home with me in quieter forms, smears of paint on my clothes, flecks in my hair, colour pressed into the creases of my hands and the soles of my feet.

Lately, though, I have been trying to work differently. I have been carrying my practice with me into new places, letting the boundaries between work and rest soften and blur. It is something many artists learn to navigate in their own ways. Because the truth is, the door never closes completely. The book is always slightly open in the mind. A canvas waits somewhere for its next layer, a print for its ink, an idea for the moment it is ready to surface.

Thanks so much to everyone who came by the Sidetrack Open Studios this weekend! 💚
It was such a great time meeting so many of you in person and chatting about the work.

Big shoutout to @thewrendesign for letting me show our collaboration pieces. They were such a favourite and so fun to share in person. 🐙

If there’s a painting or print you’re still thinking about, just message me.🤔

And I hope to see you again soon at my solo exhibition at the AVA. Opening 20 November ✨
