Learning Palestinian Tatreez comes with a responsibility.

When you learn Palestinian Tatreez, you are learning more than a technique. You are being entrusted with a form of Palestinian knowledge that has been carried through generations.

As you take these stitches beyond the workshop, I hope you also carry their context with you — the people, places, histories, and knowledge they come from. This is especially important when learning from a culture that is not your own.

There is nothing wrong with being inspired by, learning from, or falling in love with Tatreez. What matters is how we carry it forward: with acknowledgment, curiosity, respect, and an understanding of where it comes from.

The stitch is only the beginning. What we do with what we learn matters too.

For the second live conversation in the Agora series Tatreez as a Cultural Language, Haya Mustafa Natsheh will be joined by special guest Bisan Alhaj Hasan @thobnah to explore the Palestinian thobe as much more than a garment.

A Palestinian Tatreez artist, researcher and educator, and the founder of Qutbeh @qutbe.h , Haya brings together research and stitching to explore the cultural knowledge embedded within Palestinian textiles.

In Reading the Palestinian Thobe, the conversation will look at how embroidery, motifs, colours, fabrics and regional variations can offer clues to geography, community, identity and lived experience.

Together, Haya and Bisan Alhaj Hasan will explore how a thobe can be read as a visual record carrying stories across generations.

The live podcast-style conversation will be hosted by Bisan Saleh.

The session will be held in English.

A Palestinian thobe can be read like a visual story.

Its colours, motifs, stitches, fabrics and compositions can reveal connections to place, community, occasion, memory and identity.

In Reading the Palestinian Thobe, the second conversation in the Agora series Tatreez as a Cultural Language, artist and researcher Haya Mustafa Natsheh will be joined by special guest Bisan Alhaj Hasan @thobnah to look more closely at the language embedded within Palestinian dress.

How can we recognise regional differences? What can motifs and colours tell us? And how has the Palestinian thobe carried personal and collective stories across generations?

Presented by Art Concept in collaboration with Haya Mustafa Natsheh and hosted by Bisan Saleh, this live podcast-style conversation invites audiences to look beyond embroidery as decoration and begin reading the thobe as a cultural document.

Kofia as a foraging bag , the way our ancestors used it .
Kofia is an important symbol of Palestinian, usually it's used on the head , I remembered Hajeh Um muhareb taught me how to wear it like this way to collect the freekeh harvest , I start to use it for foraging in my tastes of Palestine Educational tours , today I enjoyed it while Reviving the sumac season in Lifta .
