Sometimes it’s hard to know how you can still help your teen.

When nothing seems to work.
When they seem to have completely given up on themselves.
When they keep falling back into old habits.

For Thomas Henderson, one of the most helpful things his parents did right throughout years of addiction, treatment, relapse, and chaos was hold onto hope.

No matter how dark the place he was in, he knew, somewhere in the back of his mind, that his parents still believed he could change.

And that belief mattered.

It didn’t magically make him get sober.
It didn’t mean his parents could rescue him or make his choices for him.

But once Thomas finally decided that he wanted a different life, knowing his parents believed in him became a powerful reason to keep moving forward.

As a parent of a struggling teen, you may feel like you’ve tried everything. You may wonder whether your child will ever find their way out of the place they’re in.

You can’t make that decision for them.

But you can hold onto hope for them when they can’t hold it for themselves.

In this episode, Thomas shares his journey through addiction, treatment, relapse, and recovery, and what his parents did that helped him find his way back.

Some of the most impactful moments happen when people are willing to share honestly about where they’ve been, what they’ve overcome, and what has helped them move forward.

Thank you to @thomas091520 for sharing his story of recovery, resilience, and the daily practices that support lasting change. We followed his talk with breathwork practice, reflection, and meaningful connection….a reminder that healing happens both in the work we do individually and in the stories we share with one another. 🤍 #stillwelliop #mentalhealthmatters #collegementalhealth #athensga
