@marksurfsbig at 32nd street in Newport, circa 2016.

It’s no secret that the lower jetties of Newport are among our favorite spots to surf. It’s where we host most of our #earlyandoftensurfclub meetups, and we have more great stuff in the works close to home.

I’ve been thinking about how absurd the idea of “brain rot” is, and that it’s an accepted part of society.

If you’re not familiar with the term, brain rot is “a perceived loss of intelligence or critical thinking skills, especially on account of the overconsumption of unchallenging or frivolous content posted online.”

This is a reminder to regularly engage with activities that command your full attention and focus. Operate in the present. Don’t succumb to brain rot.

As @thecodeofthewest said the other day, “this is just me reminding myself out loud in front of 161k people” -Dave
