At the MODELLBAHN TOTAL in Lohmar, Germany, I discovered this pretty little gem here. Alex a member from the ECRS enthusiasts in Siegburg created this wonderful layout in H0, 1:87. It shows the dreamy little town Huxtebude, with its ancient houses, a little station and the quai. On a railway line diesel locos and railbuses are transporting goods and people through a typical North German landscape with so many wonderful authentic details. ——

Many different trains are passing by the large industry area and are disappearing into a short tunnel on the fantastic Marklin H0 layout, built by enthusiasts of the MBF-Maifeld model railway club.

Black Forest Germany in the year 1934. A short maintenance train with two x-class platform wagons, and a Badonian class 10b , DRG class 92.2 is leaving Lenzkirch Station. Destination of this little train is Bonndorf. After the train vanished in the tunnel, we take a closer look at the beautiful Lenzkirch station.

The Faszination Modellbau in Friedrichshafen, on the shores of Lake Constance is attracting many model railway enthusiast and clubs from Switzerland, naturally. Therefore, it wasn’t really a surprise to find quite many very nicely detailed layouts from there this time. The Swiss have built very beautiful locomotives and combining that with the extremely nice Swiss landscapes between the Jura and th Alps is simply gorgeous. Hope you enjoy. Btw. I found the stunning KM1 operative diorama Rudolf 2 in gauge 1 (1:32), which has definitely become one of the key attractions of the 2025 FASZINATION MODELLBAU and the 2026 Intermodellbau. I discovered and filmed this huge 1:87 model layout on the Faszination Modellbau 2023 in Friedrichshafen. It is certainly rare that model trains are not playing the main role on a layout. In this case it is the ships which are actually most important. The biggest part of the layout is covered with natural water. The whole scenery is settled somewhere in the early years of the 20ieth century before WW1 in a German coast region.

In hall 7 of the Intermodellbau 2026 I discovered this fantastic jewel. It is a modular H0 gauge layout called Lauterthalbahn 1924 and was presented by a group of enthusiasts coming from Biblis in Germany. The builder is Sebastian Litters who created even more modules but was not able to present them all on the fair. The layout represents an authentic country railway line in the year 1924, yet with a couple of fictional elements like the stone mining facility. The model work is absolutely great, fantastic to say. I have really seldomly seen a more skilful created layout in that scale.

This awesome gauge 0 layout was presented by the Modelspoorgroep s‘Hertogenbosch, Netherlands on the Faszination Modellbau 2025 in Friedrichshafen. The scenery shows Germany during Epoch 3/4 with mostly Diesel vehicles.

One of the most exciting layouts at the FASZINATION MODELLBAU 2025 in Friedrichshafen was the N gauge Gare de Chalon sur Saône, created by Jean-Marc Monin and his team from France. It is the sheer dimension of this layout that is impressing me most, appearing in train lengths, curve diameters et cetera. It is simply stunning when you observe a long train passing the spacious passenger station and disappearing in the distance.

Werner Guderlei and the team from Modellbaugruppe MÖHRINGEN again presented their magnificent H0 depot layout again on the 2026 Intermodellbau. The many shunting and shifting manoevres of trains and locos appear so realistic and are controlled digitally via laptop. All steam locos are Weinert models, handmade from kits, uniquely weathered and with authentic number plates. In the meantime I have so many beautiful clips from this layout…. filling hours!
