🫣 F R E A K Y F R I D A Y book tour & review 🫣 featuring “The Ferryman’s Daughter” by Yasmin Angoe!

Sanaa Karrem is a high school forensic science teacher who has had to re-build a life for herself after experiencing enough trauma to last a lifetime. She moved, changed her name and created a brand new identity in order to create as much distance as possible from her old life.

18 years ago, Sanaa’s serial killer father, dubbed The Ferryman, disappeared and was never caught. His signature was to leave pennies on his victim’s closed eye lids… and for 18 years his kills had gone completely cold … until now. When bodies start dropping sporting her father’s signature, everyone thinks that the Ferryman is BACK. However, Sanaa knows for sure that it isn’t possible, because she killed him herself.

With a background in forensics, Sanaa knows what to look for and understands the deranged mind of a serial killer. It looks like a copy cat has found her and wants to taunt her with reminders of her father by paying meticulous attention to the same method, placement and meaning behind their kills. Perhaps even frame Sanaa for the recent murders as if she is keeping up with her father’s legacy.

“Precision mattered. Timing mattered. What would happen after she was found mattered. Everything had to be exactly like it had been back then. This was the coming-out party, the mark on society decades in the making”.

💭 I always love a gritty serial killer thriller, especially when a calculated game of cat and mouse is involved. There is so much dark history, trauma and generational secrets to unload here as you slowly put all the puzzle pieces together. Pay close attention to all the intricate little details as you follow along with the investigation. Did Sanaa inherit the darkness of her father? After all, she IS the Ferryman’s daughter …

🎨 M O N S T R O S I T Y M O N D A Y review 🎨 featuring “One of His” by Alina Bellchambers!

Eve Farrell has a gift for portraiture and paints portraits of women who have gone missing. She is dedicated to capturing the person in their truest form and share their story right from the canvas.

Eve gets kidnapped from a gallery opening by a serial killer dubbed “The Artistic Killer” who needs her to set his plan in motion and bring his vision to life … on the canvas. Eve is expected to paint portraits of all his murder victims, before and after their deaths, while imprisoned in a basement.

As the victims show up in the Thames River one after the other, the canvases fill up and Eve wonders if the last canvas is reserved for her. Will Eve be able to escape the imprisonment of her kidnapper before their masterpiece exhibit is revealed?

💭 Oh snap! Now THIS is the definition of unhinged and deranged! The shock factor will creep up on you unexpectedly and leave your jaw on the floor! Not only is this book a whirlwind full of jealousy, possession, seduction and manipulation, but also a fascinating police procedural. This is not your typical serial killer thriller as it is intertwined in the art world and somehow this amped up the chill factor. The killer is PSYCHOTIC and EVIL and INSANE and such a force to reckon with. Eve finds herself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a serial killer and will really need to excel in the art of staying alive before she ends up as one of the victims.
