Typical afternoon at wategos when the planets align. Great waves, no wind and the whole Bae Boys team takes the afternoon off to join in communal happiness.

Lofi -shot all on iPhone.

We are super lucky to live in such a special place where people can surf and Foil together. Foilers can go wide at wategoes and stay out of the surf break and surfers can stay on the inside and surf. As foiling gets busier and more popular so does wategos but with that has to come some responsibility from each rider to play nice. Use your brain and be respectful of other people who live here and have surfed here for years. Keep the peace.

Please share. This post. And the ocean.

MAGIC DOES HAPPEN!
Sometimes the stars seem to align and dreams do come true. This night was one of those times for me. Ziggy Alberts and Kyle Lionhart are two of my favorite Australian artists. I met Ziggy about seven years ago in Byron Bay when I came from Hawaii for Bluesfest. He was busking in the street and I was really taken by his music. Watching him also inspired me to take a grassroots path in my own music and lead to me going to Europe the following year and busking in the streets for 6 months in 16 countries and over 30 cities. This experience changed my life in many challenging and wonderful ways.
I had also heard Kyle performing in the street on that first trip 7 years ago and loved what he was doing, but didn’t get the chance to meet him until 3 years ago when I returned to Byron just before the world shut down due to the pandemic and I had to leave Australia before the borders closed.
Flash forward to the present when I came back to Byron Bay yet again to pick up where I left off, try busking again and reunite with musician friends whom I had met previously. The night of this photo I was about to set up my gear on Johnson Street when Ziggy came by looking for a spot to do a “sneaky busk” with Kyle. We chatted and he had the idea of playing a show at a beautiful beach nearby where he had always wanted to busk. He was generous enough to invite me along to join himself and Kyle and play some of my own songs. My mind was blown in a full circle kind of way by this invitation and the rest is memories that I will cherish for all my life.
Sometimes magic does happen and dreams do come true!💫
Thank you Ziggy and Kyle for your kindness, generosity and support. It means the world to me.🫶
Forever grateful 🙏🏼
Thom 😊
