Celebrating International women’s day: In 2025 I was super proud to have a production of Little Women touring the UK. It was brought to life by two casts of hugely talented, feisty, intelligent women, who embraced the radical power of storytelling with love and passion. Little Women was published in 1868. In this semi autobiographical novel, Alcott wrote the story of a young woman, Jo, who refused to accept societal expectations, and followed her passion to write, becoming hugely successful. Which is exactly what Alcott then did. Alcott layered real life with fiction and manifested her own ending and in doing so, wrote a new ending for women like herself. She chose ambition and creativity over convention and expectation, and with huge courage, inspired many young women after her to rewrite their own futures. Here’s to the women who pursue their passions and create their own endings. #InternationalWomensDay #LouisaMayAlcott #womenwhowrite
