📸 Throwback to the early 70s! Check out this vintage adidas SUPERGRIP Made in France 🇫🇷

Did you know? The SUPERGRIP was the predecessor to the iconic Superstar we all know and love today! 👟✨

Here’s the fascinating story behind this game-changing sneaker:
🏀 Designed by Chris Severn to take on Converse in the basketball world
🤫 Developed in secret by Horst Dassler, son of adidas founder

🔧 Innovative features:
• Herringbone sole for better traction
• Leather upper for superior support
• Revolutionary “dish sole” for durability

💪 It took years of persistence, but the SUPERGRIP finally won over NBA players

🌟 Paved the way for the adidas Superstar, launched in 1970

From court to street, this shoe changed the game forever! 🏀🛣️

I love it when something like this happens. I was lucky to find a pair of vintage shoes that I have only seen once, let's say twice, before. It's this very very rare colorway of the OG vintage adidas Eldorado Made in France in White/ Black/ Purple from the Run DMC collection. I haven't even known that this colorway existed until it popped up in a post of a vintage sneaker seller here on Instagram a couple of years ago. I have never seen it in a vintage adidas catalogue or any advert before so I was immediately in love and made an offer. Unfortunately I was outbid by another well respected collector on whose Instagram account I saw it again later. I never forgot about that pair and a couple of weeks ago I ran into an auction that offered this exact same shoe. The pictures weren't great (➡️ last slide) but I realized what was offered and here it is, my own pair of Eldorados with these crazy purple parts instead of the usual red ones. Condition is awesome, I'd say unworn. But due to its age and probably an unprofessional storing, the shoes show some signs of aging. The leather is really smooth and even the tongues are still quite nice. I am absolutely stoked about them.

Before & After.

"I think I'm a sneaker customizer now." Not. 😅

Just got inspired by @tduffles202 's rad customs and realized the unshrouded version is peak 📈.

Love this silhouette and how comfy and plush the ride is. Quality is pretty good too. #90sChunkyNClunky lfg!

Watching Run DMC on an episode of Reading Rainbow is just the coolest. They took the time to give back; something that many didn’t at the time. Reading Rainbow is definitely a staple of my youth 🌈

Never Say Never not to go back Adidas. Look what happen in 3rd pic. :)

Looks like the recent collab release with Neighborhood & Adidas was a retro release back in those days, giving the fans a chance to cop it.
