That’s a wrap on the 1st Thriveable event DOWN UNDER 🇦🇺

We just wrapped up our 3 day @thriveableofficial X @syd.sessions on Bondi Beach in Sydney!

3 days of goal setting. Purpose driven questions. Service projects. And figuring out WHO YOU WANT TO BE AND WHAT THE HECK YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE.

This was our 3rd international event and boy do they just keep getting better and better.

The goal of this 3 day teens mastermind was to give young people a space to ask questions they don’t normally ask, learn what they don’t normally learn, and start to figure out what might be possible for their lives. Basically, everything adults wish they had as a kid.

From the U.S to Fiji to Guatemala to Australia to some NEW LOCATIONS in 2027… I couldn’t be more grateful at the speed @thriveableofficial is expanding.

Give them independence.

Let them try and fail and learn in the real world so they don’t get absorbed into a fake one (ie: Social media 📱)

Encourage, but don’t coddle.

If we want to raise a strong generation, it doesn’t start with them. It starts with you as the parent.

Easier said than done. But it still needs to be done.

Hard times create strong men > Strong men create good times > Good times create weak men > Weak men create hard times

Parents, my guess is if you are reading this, you are the one in your family tree who went through great amount of hardship and trials.

My guess is that you’ve built a better life for your children yet worry that they may live with a sense of entitlement because they have all the benefits of wealth without the grit, tenacity, and hunger that created it.

The solution is not to pretend that you don’t have resources, wealth, or connections.

You are not in “earned good times” because you failed… but because you succeeded. (Well done :)

The solution is to help them develop the great, tenacity, and hunger that you did.

That’s the gap @thriveableofficial was built to close.

This may get some people HEATED. But it needs to be said.

When I run my events, I don’t take kids’ phones away.
WHY?
Because if I can’t be interesting enough to keep them off their phones, that’s feedback for ME.

If a kid isn’t giving you the attention you need from them, it’s because you haven’t earned it.

A kid on their phone isnt a problem, its a temperture check for you that you likely dont have enough relevancy, clarity, or you’re not being engaging enough with your message. A child being distracted isnt the problem, its a symptom of your lack of clarity and poor communication skills..

HOW TO FIX IT:

stop making the rule “no phones” and start making the moment worth putting the phone down for.

1. ask questions they haven’t heard before. Things that are interesting to THEM, not just giving them instructions.

2. let them talk more than you do.

Phones aren’t the problem. boring is the problem. (I have my own opinion on phones and social media that I’ll share another time)

Give a kid something worth being present for, and watch how fast their device becomes an afterthought.

We’re under two weeks out and so excited! 🔥
A weekend for 13–17-year-olds to explore the things school doesn’t teach…but that shape so much of who they become.

Confidence. Friendships. Handling pressure. Understanding themselves. Finding their voice. Trusting their instincts. Knowing they don’t have to have it all figured out yet.

I’m bringing @lorradailey founder of @thriveableofficial to Sydney because the way she connects with teenagers is truly special. She meets them exactly where they are and creates the kind of space where they feel understood, open up and start seeing themselves differently.

At 21, Lorra is already doing incredible work with teenagers across the world. Now, for one weekend only, she’s bringing that energy to Bondi. ✨✨

I did not have any of this figured out at 16.

But starting at 16 is exactly why I understand it now.

There is a version of these lessons that you can read in a book or hear in a podcast and think you understand. And then there is the version you actually learn (the one that gets into your bones) because you were in it to make the mistakes, feel the consequences, and course correct while the stakes were still low.

I am not standing here at 21 with all the answers.

I am standing here with five years of real experience that most people my age have not started accumulating yet.

And that gap is not talent. That is just what happens when you start before you feel ready and figure it out on the way.

That is the only way it actually works.

Save this for when you are waiting to feel ready. And share it with someone who has been waiting longer than they should.

Shots of life recently 🫶🏽

Where do I begin? The last 2 months have been the most beautiful, incredible, tear and joy filled, chaotic season of my life.

This has been the greatest and most humbling season yet.

It’s been the season of heavy hearts, late night tears, surrender, and finding courage to build when I thought I had reached empty. It’s been the deepest, darkest, lows and some of the most unprecedented highs.

It’s been balancing internal with external and fixing my eyes toward the horizon I truly want to sale.

I’m learning that you can’t ask God for more without being willing to carry it.

Beyond grateful to every person, every mentor, and every young person who is part of this beautiful, messy, rarely pretty journey with me.

Thank God I get to be a student of life every day 🤍 FEELINNN BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE 👏🏽

It’s hard, it’s painful a lot of the time, the work I get to do breaks my heart open, AND I wouldn’t trade the full spectrum of life for anything else.

Five days. Sixty kids. One week I will never stop talking about.

This was the first ever Thriveable Summer Intensive and I genuinely do not have the words for what happened in that room.

Day one we asked them: are you crazy enough? By day five they were answering that question with everything they had built across the week. Power posters. Letters to their future selves. Notes of acknowledgement from every person in their division. A closing ceremony where they stood in front of their parents and shared who they are becoming.

We assembled 400 blessing bags for @caritasofaustin. We heard from @speakerjeffhoffman and @reallyzealous. We asked questions nobody had ever asked these kids before and we listened, really listened, to what they had to say.

And what I kept thinking all week was: this is what it looks like when you stop managing kids and start trusting them.

Every single one of them showed up. Every single one of them proved something to themselves this week.

That is Thriveable. And we are just getting started.
