Thriving, Not Just Surviving is a free, weekly healing workshop series for college students who have experienced sexual assault, stalking, or domestic violence, on or off campus.

A few ground rules:

1. You never have to tell your story, to us or to anyone.

2. No long intake process.

3. We believe every survivor. We also believe every survivor deserves free access to practical, day-to-day coping skills led by trauma-informed experts, and a community of peers who truly understand what you’re going through, without having to recount the details of what happened.

We’re currently offering in-person programs near UCSB, SBCC, SDSU, and SFSU, and growing quickly.

Workshop examples:
🎨 Healing through art
🌻 Yoga
🔔 Sound healing
📓 Journaling
🌿 Learning boundaries
💬 Weekly group check-ins - strangers often leave as friends

Students of all identities are welcome.

🗓️ Express interest by Friday, October 18
🔗 Link in bio | takes less than 2 minutes

This may be a news story that cycles out of the news, but it doesn’t cycle out of survivors’ lives. 💛

In light of recent news, we’re extending all of our program deadlines to October 18th.

Join a community of peers who understand what you’re going through, and learn practical tools from trauma-informed specialists to support your healing journey. You never have to retell your story to take part.

In-person programs are available for students at UCSB, SBCC, SDSU, and SFSU.

•Our marketing volunteers on each campus are always empowering their peers, creating content for them to learn from, or spreading awareness about our current series & events. Even making lifelong friendships in the process! 🌻

•This volunteer work helps them as well by teaching career development skills like Canva, campaign development, etc while providing extracurricular resume work for future jobs and educational opportunities. 🪻

7 years ago, a group of students created, The Thriving Initiative at UCSB as a healing space for students that are survivors of interpersonal violence. 7 years later, The Thriving Initiative now has chapters at SDSU and SFSU too!

Thank you to all our volunteers, staff, board members, donors, providers, and students for making the last 7 years happen! We wouldn’t be here without the support of our community.

Happy birthday, Thriving, here’s to many more years of healing! 🌻💜
