ugly duckling 🦆/// 9 years old. Pre-industry days. Pre-braces. It’s funny to me how those of us drawn to an industry seen as superficial and surface-level to the wider audience is ACTUALLY full of insecure, dream-builder nerds full of artistic power & creative abilities beyond belief, who just want to make others look x feel pretty. Surprising to those outside of fashion - it often attracts those who felt like misfits growing up, longing for a more magical life for themselves when they felt so different from the gen population. This is why I went to @fitnyc , took 8 classes a semester, worked on-campus and off for pay in addition to interning 7x over eight semesters unpaid because I was told that was the formula to land a job in the industry. It’s giving no sleep ‘til Brooklyn IYKYK. This photo shoot was the beginning of rejection & realizing that regardless of how hard you work & are told, things just don’t work out sometimes.

It took me until yesterday to realize I was not cool BECAUSE I put countless hours into fashion, but I am a wicked cool person who happened to launchpad my career IN the land of fashion & and it’s extensions of creative entities.

When I see younger photos of myself, I get sad as it reminds me why I work so hard, am so passionate, and yet feel like I’ve only been treading water since the beginning of time when all I want to do is make this young girl proud. Full of hope & dreams before reality took over and stole the joy from us Millennials.

#ThrowbackThursday to my first time modeling (at a Barbizon or related casting call) at The Sheraton back in Vermont 👗🪞💋. I legit have an upgraded version of these @payless loafers now from @colehaan and made of a slightly nicer leather 🖤.

I love these AGC Stickety-Doo-Da “Dragon Stickers” Mythical Creatures sticker sheets! ✨🐉✨ Anybody else have a soft spot for anything dragon-themed?! :-) I appreciate the adorable touch of adding the baby dragon hatching from an egg!🥚 What a nostalgic and sweet illustration style. Reminds me of some beloved picture books. And my favorite from this sheet has to be the sleeping dragon curled up like a sleepy cat!!!! Haha 🐲💤😽❤️

Some end of the week nostalgia for you!

I’ve been doing a lot of research within the kids media industry. After an insightful and brilliant event from @kidsindustries last week I thought it was necessary to look at what I loved as a child and what’s changed ( a lot ).

So here are some of my favourites as a kid! Let me know yours and what you have to add about what kids see today.

1. BRUM (1991)
All about a vintage car on a mission around the city. This cute character portrays courage, adventure, kindness with a sprinkle of cheekiness!

2. BANANAS IN PYJAMAS (1992)
This one shows tv growth from real actors dresses as bananas to now a YouTube and tv animation. AND a theme tune that never leaves you!

3. PLAYDAYS (1988)
Day by day consistency was the key here. We knew exactly what we were getting! From Mondays The Why Bird Shop to Fridays The Tent Shop.

4. TOTS TV (1993)
Tilly, Tom and Tiny were my friends! This show follows the characters while they get up to mischief working out the “real world”.

5. Rosie and Jim (1990)
Saving my personal favourite til last. And do I dare say… toys that come to life (before Toy Story). 😬 I was obsessed! I still call canal boats “Rosie and Jim boats”
