Sixty years of protecting the Huron River deserves a truly special celebration. That’s why we partnered with local aerial photographer and cinematographer, Peter Leix, whose passion and vision led him to document the river’s entire journey over a full year. In this breathtaking reel, Peter showcases the Huron as a living thread connecting nature, communities, and history.

Collaborating with creators, like Peter, for our 60th Anniversary film is a tribute to the power of partnership and the shared mission of protecting and restoring the Huron River for generations to come.

🌊 Join the celebration! Click the link in our bio to watch the full 60th Anniversary film and Peter's full video of the river.

Farewell to Roscoe.

He was our first baby. I’ll miss so much… Burying my face in the creamiest marshmallow bib, snuggling up with his warm weight, hearing his beautiful trumpeting singing voice, I’ll even miss, as Peter put it, his “17th century sourdough starter’ breath. I’ll miss listening for the tictictic of his nails as he came to look for me. my loyal friend. I’ll be looking for you in the next space Roscoe, whatever that is!

In all the shittiness of the world, I’m so glad we get to share it with dogs.

Roscoe got us through years of infertility, then in a cruel twist of events, didn’t like living with kids. So in the greatest act of kindness, Peter’s uncle Dennis and aunt Lori took him in for the last two years of his life. I’ll never be able to thank them enough because of what a toll it takes to have a senior dog, that you didn’t even ask for.

This poor guy got a lemon of a body. Corgi mixed with… a shepherd of some kind? He had arthritis by age 2. We did so many supplements and eventually surgeries… I’m sorry you were in pain, buddy. Hope you get reincarnated as a laid-back Eastern European man, like the voice we gave you sounded like.

The first image is a painting that I ended up gifting a surgeon who saved his life in 2018 when he almost died after stabbing himself on a stick from barking so hard at a squirrel. Glad he got some last bonus years.

To memorialize our best song about him:
🎶
He got nutmeg legs,
A marshmallow bib,
A pumpkin head
And a cinnamon chin,

He’s a pumpkin pie,
He’s a pumpkin pie,
He’s a pumpkin pie,
He’s a pumpkin pie,

He’s a puppy and a baby
And we really do love him so! 🎶

What do you think: do all dogs to heaven?

We had a baby this May. I am tired and very happy.

I also kept meaning to make a more elaborate post but it hasn’t happened… it has been a long road to parenthood so I’ve had a lot of time to overthink it.

so instead here I am after he is sleeping, posting a quick drawing I did of him in the car sleeping off his first Christmas. This is Charlie :)
