Spotlight on Tiago Sansou (@tiagosansou). Raised in Salvador da Bahia and shaped by Afro-Brazilian cultural continuities and colonial afterlives, Sansou works with collage and installation to consider how memory adheres to domestic objects, textiles, and everyday gestures.

His installation “Mom’s Backyard,” accompanied by a small group of collage pieces, draws on chintz fabric as both material and metaphor: a carrier of labor, care, and undervalued histories. Through hanging cloths, collaged traces, and projection, Sansou evokes matriarchal presences and the choreography of the everyday, where tenderness and constraint can coexist, and where inherited forms quietly structure the present.

During our Year’s End Reception, a selection of Tiago’s works will be shown alongside other residents on December 29:
🕒 Art presentation: 3–9 p.m.
🥂 Reception: 7–9 p.m.
🗣 Walkthrough: 8 p.m.
