Without darkness, you wouldn’t know where the light is. • I taught classes for years before I started to consistently see higher numbers. I have taught many classes to 1 or 2 people. Throughout the years, I have learned how small classes are a great opportunity to make you a better trainer. • If you have a class with lower sign ups, here are some tips from my experience: -take advantage of having less people! Personally introduce yourself and find something to connect with your clients (this is harder to do in larger classes with everyone) -give client(s) an inside scoop into something special about today’s class (ex. Hey, we’re going really heavy with chest movements today! Let’s keep track of the weight you pull this week and see if we can progress next week in class.) -ask the client(s) for feedback! Seriously, you would be surprised how much valuable insight you can gain from simply asking what they enjoyed and how you can make the experience better for them. • If you are instructor or work in a role where numbers are a clear indicator of your performance, PLEASE remember that the fullness of your classes do not define the value of the service you provide. Full classes does not always equal the best trainer. They can be a great tool along with relationship building to see progress in how your consistency is paying off! Stay in your lane and focus on YOUR momentum you are building in your community! • #mondaymindset #mondaymotivation #bostonfitness #bostonfitnessinstructor #fitnessmotivation #groupfitness #groupfitnessinstructor

Meet Tiasa Kim - the July SCA cellist of the month! Q: How long have you been playing the cello? A: I’ve been playing the cello for 7 years (since 6th grade!) Q: Having studied with both SCA teachers, Dr. Krentz and Haeyoon, what would you say was your favorite part about studying with them? A: It’s always fun when they share stories about themselves — and each other — during the lesson. It’s also interesting to see the two teachers use the same methods and techniques, yet they still have their own, unique style, which is what makes studying with both teachers extra special and valuable. Q: When you’re not playing cello, what do you like to do? A: I love cooking and baking, playing with little kids, going hiking and camping, and spending an afternoon at the farmer’s market. Q: What piece of advice would you give a brand new cellist? A: Record yourself all the time and actually listen to it — you’ll be surprised by how horrible you sound sometimes and hopefully fix it before your lesson. Q: If you were on a desert island and could only eat one type of food for all of time, what would it be? A: Crunchy peanut butter toast topped with sliced bananas and a banana smoothie!! I eat it for breakfast every day and never get tired of it.
