$We are proud to present the work of Tia Yoon @tiayooon , one of the featured artists in the Through the Hidden Rift exhibition. Tia Yoon’s work explores the inner landscapes shaped by the struggle to love - both the self and others. In a culture where connection is strained, severed, and reimagined under structural forces - where emotional rupture, insatiable desire, and fractured identity are often suppressed - Yoon investigates how these conditions leave us wounded and disconnected from authentic care. Their practice confronts this disconnection by creating spaces where wounds, especially those inherited through generational and systemic trauma, can be acknowledged, felt, and transformed. Through ritual, fictional mythologies, and symbolic gestures, Yoon channels energies that oscillate between transgression and tenderness. Drawing inspiration from shamanistic traditions and queer cultures, they construct a visual and emotional language that speaks to what is often unspeakable. These elements become tools for healing and resistance, allowing alternative forms of connection and identity to emerge beyond societal expectations and biopolitical control. This process is non-linear. It embraces confusion, contradiction, and failure. Yoon views their practice as a journey of integration - an ongoing exploration of what it means to love, to connect, and to heal. Through fictional characters, spirit languages, and broken narratives, they give form to the unseen dynamics that shape us: how connection can both wound and heal, how we reveal and conceal pain in relation to others. Ultimately, Yoon‘s work is about reclaiming alienation through collective experience. It invites viewers into an intimate space of reflection, where meaning lives in silence and vulnerability becomes a form of strength. Rather than resolving the unspoken, their work seeks to hold it gently - making space for its presence, and perhaps, its transformation.
