What better way to end my #birthdayweek than with #SwampStomp2025?!? I had a feeling it would be a fast crowd but I think this might be the fastest showing this race has ever had... at least since I've been running. It was a muggy start but that didn't keep the dogs caged. They let loose and IT WAS FUN! I wasn't sure how things would hold together for me, but a consistently split 6:30ish/mile race was right where I wanted to be and even had a strong finish. I came away with a new #halfmarathonPR and 9th place overall in a pretty stacked field. In the top 10 finishers, 7 of us are in our 30s, which resulted in me being 5th in my Age Group. This old man's club isn't for the faint hearted!! I'm very happy and blessed to be able to put another year in the books! Huge thanks to the wife for waking up early to bike around the course getting pictures of everyone, and yelling "Lightning McQueen!!!" at me every chance she got!

Nightstand Full Build:
All of my major projects start as a plan on paper drawn to scale with measurements as best I can. It helps me to visualize the concept (and have something to show my wife for us to agree on). After milling it to size and a few panel glue-ups, pocket screws were used to attach everything from the inside so there are ZERO holes visible. Made the box, attached the tops, and then started on the drawers. The dovetail jig was a learning process that ate up about a week of my time and turned my brain to mush, but once I figured it out it only took about 12 hours to cut and fit them all 🤪. Drawers went in with faces fitting perfect. I loathe staining/painting, but after the wife preconditioned them, she and I knocked out 2 different layers of stain in one day and she finished them with polyacrylic the next day. These satin bronze handles added the finishing touch of elegance.

The process from rough lumber to a finished product is always an adventure. I got the wood without knowing what I would build, but we had talked about upgrading nightstands in the near future. Cypress has a beautiful grain, is easy to work but definitely has the drawback of being a softer wood. I found out along the way that small bumps make big imperfections, but was able to hide them well enough.

Decided to build this side table out of some pecan that I've had since #hurricanelaura instead of buying it online. The angled cuts were challenging but I'm pleased with the finished product. #shouldvejustboughtit #painintherear #verylittlebloodshed #waymoreheadaches #woodworking #expensivehobbybutworthit

It all started one night Tiffany sent me a funny Tiktok of people taking family portraits with a hidden surprise for their mom. After that we decided to troll the run group pictures with some (not always) inconspicuous birds. We began calling this escapade Project Free Bird.

We had no idea it would go on as long as it did with no one noticing. Jason finally caught on to our little prank and called us out. 😢

We made it 7 months, 45 group pictures, and a total of 54 birds. That doesn’t include the numerous times we were “bird blocked” by another runner or we didn’t position our hand just right. 😂

Enjoy! 🦅

Reflecting on this holiday today and how different life has been since last Thanksgiving. This last year has been full of so many ups and downs. I really have a million things I am thankful for, the most being the people in my life. My family and friends have gotten me through so much. I’m grateful for everyone’s support and kindness. 🫶🏻

I’m blessed beyond measure with my beautiful children. They’ve helped me grow and be the best version of me and continue to bring me so much pride and happiness. 🥰

My close friends are the most supportive people I’ve ever known and they continue to push me to achieve the goals I’ve set. Some of them even join in on the craziness! 🤪

I don’t see my best friend @tiffanymarie5845 as much as I used to with the new job but our support for each other will never change. No longer work partners, but forever life partners! 🖤

I moved jobs this last month and I am so grateful for the new opportunity. I love helping people and meeting more people in the community. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve now invited to run club. 😅

I’ve also met someone who has changed my life in such a quick amount of time. He’s kind, thoughtful, and always shows up for me. He treats me like a Queen and just knows exactly what I need all the time. I feel like I can never pay you back for everything you do. I am SO thankful for you @zach_attack___ ! 😘

I hope everyone has an amazing day with family and friends!! 🍁

Another great weekend in the books. Got the chance to go to the #ricecapital Crowley for a benefit 5k for a friend's son. My wife snagged 2nd Female and 1st in her Age Group! I placed 1st Overall with a 25 second PR in my new #saucony #endorphinpro3! Big thanks to @athletescorner and @southern_running_co for having the top notch gear to perform my best!

Today's #longrunsunday was supposed to happen yesterday but I didn't have enough time to get it all so I flipped the days. Had an awesome outing weaving around for 14 miles easy. Legs were a little stiff but I think the technology in the Pro3's help decrease the wreckage in that all out 5k effort. A few years ago these 2 days back to back wouldn't have happened. 19 miles for the weekend and loving this weather! #runwithus #winwithus #RUN337 #runforacause #runthechuck #riceisraceswag #garminforerunner645 #stancerunningsocks #southernrunningcompany #athletescorner #runyourworld #sauconyendorphinpro3 #carbonplated #INAD #BennettsGreatPumpkinRun
