⭐ White Coat Ceremony ⭐

What a surreal moment to finally experience this special transition into our clinical year! From our first year picnic at the Park of Roses to being coated as we enter our fourth year, this group has been through it all and I'm happy to have them by my side. I'm excited for this next part of our journey! Here's to a year of rotations and learning!

See you all in the clinic!!

Hay! Last week, we finished up a great string of live equine labs practicing IV catheters (getting much better!), NG tubes, eye blocks, retrograde nasolacrimal irrigation and of course lots of PEs for every horse who helped us learn. Can't wait for more opportunities to practice these fundamental skills I'll be using everyday!

Next up: live cattle lab!

Year 3 obligatory photo with the sign! So excited for third year; especially now that the torrential second year is behind us. Good luck to current second years going through it!

This year we will have about 70% lab time and 30% classroom learning; and I'm taking some fun electives as well.

Main courses include:
Anesthesia
ECC
Ophthalmology
Clinical Reasoning
Intro to Surgery
Clinical Skills
Advanced Equine Medicine & Lab
SA Nutrition

Always a good day out at the farm! This pic was from a few weeks ago, but I love it so much and we had such a fun day! These are the moments that make school bearable when you feel like everything around you is falling apart.

As second years, most equine and bovine labs have been out at the farms to practice handling, physical exams, lameness exams, TPR, neuro exams, and rectal palpitations. Do I have a pic of me shoving my entire arm where the sun don't shine? Nope, not my favorite....I think I'll stick to my ponies 😂 (because for some reason palpation in mares is more mentally acceptable for my brain?)
