Edhochuli status update:
Dear friends and family of the band,
The end of an era is upon us, as we say our emotional farewell to the five-piece, two drummer Edhochuli alignment. To get right to the point: our comrade and brother David Varney @varneys.war is departing the band.

It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to our beatsmith and creative partner; but we will reflect with great pride and gratitude upon the celebrations, and hardships shared, the miles travelled together, and the stages and studios that we have conquered. The decision was Dave’s own and the reasons purely logistical; No hard feelings or resentment shall be cast! We see no reason to stop being the “drummers who kiss.”

Brother Varney, Varndog, Front-door Dave- the left eye of our penetrating gaze, you will always be a Dream-Warrior, a Higher-Lander; one of us.

All of that being said, we carry on in our normal fashion; shredding.Though we will always miss our homie, we will do our best to take the same energetic and intentful approach to rock and roll that you’re used to. Plenty of new material is already progressing!

Dave Varney continues to play drums with his Nashville band @zerosum.hc , who are amazing. Maybe you caught them at Skull Fest. Much love and thanks once again to all our friends, family, and any one who ever came out to see our un-pronouncable band, and a special thanks to Dave Varney for lasting as long as you did.

For those who haven’t seen the complete Voltron, two-drummer Edhochuli, we will be performing at the @emissionsfromthemonolith at Westside Bowl in Youngstown, OH on Saturday October 10 along with Torche, Kowloon Walled City, Weedeater, Bongzilla and many more. This fest is happening Thursday thru Sunday and it’s absolutely stacked with crushing bands.

Love,
Edhoch fam.

@dillingerfour last night @bottomofthehillsf ! First and only time I’ve got to witness the amazing D4 was 2009 at the same venue. I stood practically in the same spot. Got a serious bangover today but it’s all worth it. Honestly, I’d say one of my top 5 bands ever! I hope they don’t wait another 17 years to come out here again.

Perhaps I can tell another person how my brother @tighie peed on Paddy at @thefestfl awhile back🤣

Wow. Euro tour with our new best friends @tromblon.ati may be the best tour we've ever had! I don't think we've fully digested what just happened (hang hard w/ bread and cheese), and the gratitude we owe to everyone who helped to make this the joyful, humbling, and truly transformative experience that it was can scarcely be calculated. We love France and Tromblon forever. They are some of the kindest, funniest, most adorable and most generous people on this earth! They are fucking DIY bosses, as well as the new dice champions of the world. Respect them. Thank you thank you thank you. ATI?! ❤️

tour dump 🚨
on my way home to Berlin, exhausted on the train but grateful for this 16-day journey through Porto, Lisbon, Salamanca, San Sebastián, La Pineda, Peñíscola, Benicarló, Barcelona, Saint-Étienne, Nancy, and Basel… (not shows every day in every place, but amazing memories at every stop).

of course, the biiig thanks go to my dear friend @sheik_anorak for putting the biggest part of this tour together, driving over 3,000 kilometers, and keeping the mood at the top all the time! (what a big heart this guy has).

i’ve seen so many great performances, i would’ve loved to tag everyone but the list is long.
special thanks to the Arm5a team, João, Distopia Mutante team, Balty, Paz, Anaïs, Camille, Jean François, Damian, RPT team, Ste, and Pam.

i also met many new and old friends! i can’t wait to see you all again, hopefully not after too long. endless hugs to y’all❤️

Found this very fun chaotic video from 2009 of Spires, the band that eventually led to Big Kids. Spires put out and full length LP and 12” split with 1994! both on Inkblot Records. Spires shared 3 members with Big Kids and when that band did finally play our last show, the energy of Spires carried over into Big Kids.

This show was with Edhochuli and I’m not sure who else, but there are a lot of familiar faces in this video. This show was hosted at The Yellow Room where I still live to this day. The memories made in that era of Oakland house shows will always feel awesome to look back on.

Thinking about putting the Spires tracks up on streaming music since they want a thing when our records came out.

Seeing 1994! In Philly at 2 Piece Fest was a time traveling space ship.

So many people who hadn’t seen each other in 10 years. It was cold out but it felt like summer 2010 in a lot of ways ❤️

If you’re in any of these photos let me know and I’ll send em your way.
