Dr. Seuss once said that sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

It has always fascinated me how, in the closing moments of something special, your mind begins to wander. For me, it always goes back to one question: How did I get here?

I still remember stepping foot into Camp Tulakogee for the very first time. I came expecting to see big brother for a little while and then head home. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

I was greeted by the smell of fresh cedar, the sound of hundreds of FFA members screaming at the top of their lungs, and one of my good friends @justin_dean behind a camera capturing every second of it. To most people, that scene might have been overwhelming. To a young Colton, it was simply the beginning of something much bigger.

Whether I was the son of an ag teacher, the little brother tagging along, the camp photographer, or eventually a camper myself, this place has always felt like home. Every season brought new lessons, new memories, and friendships that I know will last a lifetime. The impact this campground has had on me cannot be measured, and I will carry a piece of Camp Tulakogee with me wherever life takes me.

Alumni Camp… it has truly been the pleasure of my life. Thank you for giving me a place to grow, to serve, and to belong.
