Ello, ello. In an in an effort to step up my Instagram game, I’m going to start sharing time-lapses of me sketching and drawing with a bit of commentary. This is the first one of a naked @buzzchickson in the splits🍑. It was drawn in #procreate so luckily it was recorded automatically. If you have any questions just let me know in the comments and I’m happy to answer 👍

Last but not least, I give you 2D Freddy Kruger.

I think Freddy Kruger is the first character I ever became obsessed with as a kid.

The first film came out the year I was born.

I have older cousin's who had seen A Nightmare on Elm street. So it was kinda a bragging right to say you'd seen the Freddie Kruger films.

They describe the gory scenes to me and I was desperate to watch them.

I used to go to the video shop and look at the front and back covers for the first 3 or 4 films. Desperate to watch them. I used to even have nightmares about Freddie, and I hadn't even seen the film's yet 🤣

I think I was about 8 when I got hold of a VHS of the first film, recorded from the TV. I think my mum recorded it, and hid it from me and my brother. But we found it. Back In the day, you just recorded any film when it came on the TV.

We watched it in two sessions because we were quite scared. Partly from the film and partly from being caught by our parents.

The film didn't disappoint. I was obsessed and I spent the next few years trying, and succeeding, to watch every film.

Part 5 is the reason, to this day, I can't eat jelly 🤮

So it was only fitting to have my favourite Gorillaz character dressed as my all time favourite movie character.

P.s. Freddy Vs Jason is an underrated film.

P.p.s I appreciate stranger things season 4 🙏❤️

Continuing on, I give you Noodle as Leeloo Dallas.

Fifth element is one of my favourite films and Leeloo has gotta be one the best characters ever.

I thought it'd be kinda iconic to have Noodle cosplaying as Leeloo. So there you have it.

Continuing the close up sections of the illustration, I give you Murdoc cosplaying as Kaneda from Akira.

In the original photo there was actually this mobility scooter parked outside. I believe it belonged to a guy inside ordering chicken 😅

We thought it would be funny to have Murdoc drive it. So with a bit of Photoshop magic from @maxtaylordesign, we converted it to Kaneda's iconic bike in the film.

You can see the full illustration in the Gorillaz art book which is available via the Gorillaz store. It's a super cool book , lots of amazing artists. Including the incredible art of @hewll

I'm going to be posting sections of the illustration I did, along with @maxtaylordesign, for the @gorillaz art book.

First up, Russel dressed as Popeye the Sailor Man.

Me and Max wanted to show the Gorillaz after a good night out. We were thinking this took place during the song machine era. The Albums wrapped and they're hitting the chicken shop after a good knees up. As you do. 🍺🍾🍷🍸🥃🥂🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗

I've also been gagging to draw a few iconic characters from my favourite films and cartoons. I thought it was a cool idea to dress up such an iconic character in the outfits of other iconic characters. So it became a fancy dress wrap party.

(I know Cosplayers don't like the term fancy dress. So apologies, cosplayers, please don't come for me 😅)

Wanna thank @hewll again for inviting me and Max to contribute to the book! What an honour 🙏

Here's a little collaboration piece with the incredible photographer, and close friend, Sam Ryde @samuelryde

This piece introduces a new character of mine, Ciggi Davenport.

Sam captures the most incredible images of locations and scene people walk past every day and don't appreciate. There's a sense of whit and humour to the moments Sam captures which I find very inspiring.

Very proud to have one of my guys living in his photo!
