I cried the day each my son's were born. Primarily because of the overwhelming joy that a father has at the birth of his children. But I cried even harder because I knew how hard, unfair, and wicked this world can be. Not only that, but being African American males growing up in a society that's already stacked against scared me because I know what I had to go through and didn't want them to have to go through any of it. My tear streaked prayer for both at that time was "Lord, help us to mold him into who and what you will have them to be." We loved them, we disciplined them, we shared experiences with them, we taught them to be respectful to everyone, and most importantly we helped them build a relationship with God. It has been an honor to watch them grow and a blessed privilege to be their Dad. I didn't always get it right, but I thank God that He made it right. I love these boys with everything in me and I'm so proud of the young men they have become. #BentonBoys

Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ."
This picture speaks of volumes to me. All his life he's been challenged, attacked, and looked over because of his size, injury & hearing impairment, yet he never allowed anything come between him and accomplishing his goals. Character is what a person does when no one is looking and when others doubted him he prayed for God to give him strength to overcome. God brought him through every single obstacle. Football is his passion and when he was told he was too small for college ball he prayed for God to open a door. God opened it! Some laughed, some were shocked, I heard some say how because he didn't have a great stat line his senior season. But God had Coach Chuck Goldstein from Gallaudet University to call him, encourage him, and let him know that I have a place for you. This was unsolicited but God used Coach Chuck to let Timel know that his goals are still within reach. This pic symbolizes how Timel has had to fight to get where he is today and that regardless of what and who tries to pull him down, he's still gone to press toward the mark! He got to start at QB as a freshman I'm his first college game. My God is Awesome!

So proud of my oldest son. If you only knew all of the adversity he's had to deal with since he's been born but Thanks Be To God he has overcome every single one! His favorite quote is "Adversity introduces a man to himself." @pharoh_11 has made a grown man decision and I'm just glad to be his Dad. Love you son!
