To be honest, my mom might be heartbroken if she saw this… My copper pots haven’t been polished in ages, and yes, I definitely warped my big one (if it spins, it’s warped, right?). But in the spirit of finding silver linings these days… at least it looks kind of cool?

Anyways… #ADHD —> let’s jump topics and talk about upcycling your fat. 👅

What’s the golden goodness in the pan? That’s schmaltz (chicken fat) mixed with olive oil that some sardines were soaking in, it’s left over from these next-level sardine sandwiches made by @nikikleinberger
Those sandos are 🤤

Which brings me to my next point… (keep up)

I’m currently making stock (from frozen veggie scraps, duck bones, & chx bones), and using that upcycled fat to roast potatoes and asparagus.

Oh, and prepping fresh duck for a black-eyed pea and wild duck stew.

Monday night dinner vibes: immaculate and smelling good. By the time I head to teach yoga @anarchyoga_nola, I fully smell like dinner, no regrets.

Cooking is one of those grounding rituals I fall in and out of, but every time I return to it, it feels like home.

AND AND AND… The drop in temperature isn’t just sweater weather… it’s officially SOUP SEASON. 🥣 LFG.

If we had grocery stores like this back home… I would be there every day. Do you know why butter is so delicious in France? It has a higher butterfat content and the culturing process, which gives it a richer, tangier flavor and softer texture. I’m taking some home!
