“Untold veteran stories are often best told by other veterans who’ve also lived it. Still Being Written is one of those stories, told with unvarnished authenticity.”

Nate Boyer, director and producer

Still Being Written is a short documentary about John Harsh, a Marine mortarman who served in Fallujah, and what he’s chosen to build since coming home.

There are few projects I believe in more than @theveteransproject being produced by @timkolczak - why you ask? Because I've been there for the impromptu reunion with the early OEF/OIF guys that hadn't seen each other in 10 years. They reminisce about the old days in Iraq, talk about one another's children, & inevitably bitch about the civilian world (not civilian style bitching, more like "fuck this, fuck that, carry on"). They wash down old memories with cheap beer, say their goodbyes and carry on with life, like a walking history book of untold stories. On the contrary I've seen the lows & the highs of some of our guys that got out this decade. I know how different the wars are (yes neither is over) I've seen the moto photos & film (the stuff that doesn't make it to funker for a variety of reasons) and I've been privileged to be able to consider them family. I suppose I believe in @theveteransproject simply because in a nut shell, it familiarizes the civilian world with similar people I've been privileged with knowing through @labsforliberty. It's an authentic portrayal of a wide variety of Veterans, it's a dose of reality punching every SJW in the face, it humanizes emotions, thoughts, & feelings one can only get from having experienced the battle field and most importantly it tells those untold stories that will humble you and make you thankful for your freedom everyday of the week, not just the days you're told to be thankful. 📷:@iamtheadventure #theveteransproject #LiveLoyal #SRVS

“If ten men start up a flight of steps and only one man makes it to the top then you believe you will be that man.”

Major James Capers Jr. carried those words from his father into boot camp, into the jungles of Vietnam, and through a lifetime of service.

Today, as he receives the Medal of Honor at the White House, it’s worth remembering that the story did not begin with a ceremony.

It began with a father who taught his son to persevere.

Long before the nation’s highest military honor, there was a Marine who believed he had a duty to keep climbing—for his family, for his men, and for the Corps.

Capers’ story is not only a story of valor. It is a story of inheritance.

The words we give our sons matter.

“I was there to command my troops and bring as many as I could home.”

— Major James Capers Jr., U.S. Marine Corps

Nearly six decades after his actions in Vietnam, Major James Capers Jr. is set to receive the Medal of Honor.

A Marine Recon officer.

A battlefield-commissioned leader.

A man who carried the weight of his men long after the war ended.

His story has always been bigger than recognition, but this moment matters.

“I will never forget the first American G.I. I saw killed, and it was at Omaha Beach. That was tough, but it’s a part of war. I just had to keep moving, and so that’s what I did. That image and memory has stuck with me though.”
— Frank Denius, U.S. Army WWII Veteran

On June 6, 1944, men like Frank Denius stepped into history with courage most of us can barely comprehend.

His story is a reminder that service does not end with a single day, a single battle, or a single uniform.

It echoes through a lifetime and beyond.

Frank has since passed away, but his words live on as a lesson.

The Veterans Project exists to preserve these stories before they are lost.

SSG Dennis Boldt 1924-2026

Rest Easy Brother… we will never forget you.

Dennis is the kindest of souls, his memory must live on for eternity. His humility and tenderness shines through in our D-Day documentary, and in deep gratitude we’ll soon share more of his story alongside countless others who fought through the shores of Normandy to free France, and ultimately the world 🌍

If you happen to find yourself out that way in a couple weeks, we’ll be screening the Normandy portion of our film at the @dday_experience on June 2nd at 6:30pm… later that week I’ll be parachuting in alongside @libertyjumpteam to commemorate the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day.

Lest We Forget 🙏🇺🇸

Combat doesn’t wait for negotiations.

“They fired through the door.
We threw the grenades.
A minute later, the whole house was in flames.”

The reality of WWII, exactly how Doc told it.

What stands out to you from this part of his story?

Numbers don’t always mean much…
until you understand the cost.

“I was the big dog. I had about 160–170 men going in…
and by that night I had an even 40 left.
G Company same thing.
F Company had 26 men left.
G Company had 14 men left.
The whole battalion didn’t have but two line officers left.”

Doc wasn’t reciting statistics.

He was remembering faces.

Remembering the men who stepped off with him in the morning and didn’t make it to the night.

This was the Siegfried Line…
a place that didn’t just chew up units…
it erased them.

If this part of Doc’s story hits you, let us know what stands out most.
