London Day 4: Talk about manifesting! When I started planning my book tour it was a dream beyond dream to be received by London, specifically The Sondheim Society. I reached out and we began plotting. Then, once the U.S. tour began, an attendee at a NYC talk who was associated with NYU London invited me to give a talk. After months of calendar triangulation between the three of us we landed on this week. After two talks at NYU London, a book signing at The National Theatre, a London cryptic pub gathering, it’s all just been amazing, and culminated with last night with The Sondheim Society! I vary my talks whenever I can and since I was presenting earlier in the week I added a range of new content to my performance. I added some London-specific content and also choose to do a deep dive into The Murder Game, something I haven’t done since last summer. But what made this so special is this was the first time I presented in an actual theater surrounded by amazing performers. Joining me was composer-lyricist and musical director Colm Molloy, who wrote the theme song to my podcast. Performing selections from Sondheim’s work were two stars of the latest revival of Road Show: Oliver Sidney and Rhys Lambert. And Oliver sang the podcast theme, which was wild and amazing and so cool, with Colm live on piano. Many local friends came to support the event, and I got to meet in person for the first time @thesondheimhub and @se1_richard . All and all it was a remarkable evening. I look forward to sharing the audio on my podcast, and the official photos and videos that were captured. Thank you so much @sondheimsociety and @upstairsatthegatehouse for making this Sondheim-fan’s dreams come true. @colmmolloy_ @rhyslambert_ @tinabfoote @ollie.tw

Let’s go fly a kite… to London. Yes a week from today I’ll be in London at the centerpiece of my visit at an event produced by the Sondheim society. Yes the SS, so you know it’s going to be a one time only not to be missed spectacular. It is a night guaranteed to Surprise and delight. Yes, of course, we’ll explore what we can learn about Stephen Sondheim from a life spent crafting puzzles and designing games, but we’ll specifically look at the impact over 60 years of his remarkable The Murder Game, the inspiration for his only Hollywood film, for one of his most beloved songs and yes the eponymous parlor game which is notorious for Sondheim’s warning that it can only be played once. And we’ll play it. Once. But there’s more. So much more. Joining me is composer-lyricist and musical director Colm Molloy, who shares a deep love of puzzles and Sondheim, and wrote the theme song to my podcast, which for the FIRST time will be performed live, and sung by the star of the latest revival of Road Show: Oliver Sidney, who along with that number will return throughout the night to sing other Sondheim tunes, along with Rhys Lambert. And there will be prizes, books for sales that I will sign, and more. Please spread the word - I’m coming to town! - and go to the link in my bio or Upstairsatthegatehouse.com to get tickets. See you there! @rhyslambert_ @colmmolloy_ @ollie.tw @sondheimsociety @upstairsatthegatehouse @tinabfoote
