ECHOES OF IDENTITY
“Echoes of Identity” is a meditation on who we are, what we inherit, and what remains within us when the visible layers of identity begin to shift.

From the Shadow of the Dinka Art Series, this work explores the relationship between memory, ancestry, culture, resilience, and contemporary African identity. The figure emerges through fragments of colour and pattern, suggesting that identity is never singular or fixed it is continuously assembled from histories, experiences, places, and inherited stories.

The work is created through mixed media and eco art, incorporating recycled Kitenge fabric and reclaimed materials. What might once have been discarded is transformed into a visual language of dignity, memory, and renewal. The fragments become more than materials; they become echoes of a cultural presence that refuses to disappear.

EXPERIMENTAL ARTWORK

Series: Circles
Artwork Title:
Circle I: Untold Stories
Artist: Tindi Ronnie Chris
Studio: Tindicolours Studio
Medium: Mixed Media (Paper Collage, Glue & Acrylic)
Year: 2026

Series Statement

Circles is an ongoing mixed media collage series that explores the interconnectedness of memory, identity, culture, and time. The circle, with no beginning or end, becomes a universal symbol of continuity, unity, renewal, and belonging. Constructed from reclaimed newspaper fragments, paper, glue, and acrylic, each artwork transforms discarded narratives into new visual languages that reflect the layered experiences of African communities.
Every circle represents a living archive where personal memories meet collective histories, and fragmented stories are brought together into a harmonious whole. Through this series, Tindi Ronnie Chris invites viewers to reflect on the cycles that shape human existence: birth and death, tradition and change, silence and expression, loss and hope.

Artwork Statement

Circle I: Untold Stories examines the hidden narratives that exist beneath everyday headlines. Newspaper fragments, once carrying fleeting information, are reassembled into a timeless form that suggests remembrance rather than news. The work reminds us that every individual carries stories that are often overlooked, yet together these stories form the collective memory of society.

In a small classroom filled with torn newspapers and bright scraps of fabric, a young girl named Saffron Divine (a Tindicolours hybrid young artist in primary Three) sat quietly as her imagination came alive on paper.
She didn’t just draw she built stories.

Using old newspaper pages as the ground of her world, she created joyful figures she called “Sister Saffron,1 and 2 ;a girl who could see beauty hidden inside broken things. Every piece of fabric she glued down became a memory: red for courage, green for growth, and patterned cloth for the stories passed down from her grandmother.

Sister Saffron danced across the pages with open arms, reminding everyone that even in a noisy world, there is always color, hope, and identity waiting to be found.

When she finished, she didn’t sign them loudly. She simply wrote her name like a whisper from a young artist who already knows that small hands can carry big visions.

Mother and Daughter: A Celebration of Love and Nurture
By Tindi Ronnie Chris (Tindicolours)
Woodcut and Mixed Media on Board Paper, A4
This artwork beautifully captures the deep bond between a mother and her daughter, expressing a love that is both tender and timeless. Through simplified forms, textured surfaces, and earthy colours, the artist moves beyond physical appearance to reveal the emotional connection that unites the two figures.
The mother’s gentle embrace symbolises protection, care, and guidance, while the child’s relaxed posture reflects trust, comfort, and security. Together, they represent one of the most important human relationships the nurturing foundation upon which identity, values, and belonging are built.
The woodcut-inspired lines and layered mixed media textures give the piece a rich, organic character, creating a sense of memory and continuity. The muted greens, browns, and soft blues evoke nature, growth, and the enduring cycle of life, reinforcing the idea that love is a force that sustains generations.
Beyond its visual appeal, the artwork invites viewers to reflect on the universal role of motherhood as a source of compassion, sacrifice, strength, and emotional resilience. It reminds us that the first lessons of love, care, and humanity are often learned in the arms of a mother.
In this moving composition, Tindi Ronnie Chris transforms an intimate moment into a powerful statement about affection, family, and the enduring bonds that connect us across generations.

Celebrating @Saffron Devine P3, one of the talented Tindicolours hybrids!
Always eager to challenge herself, Saffron stepped out of her comfort zone and explored human portraiture in her own unique style. Using recycled newspapers, acrylic paint, and art paper, she transformed everyday materials into this striking mixed media artwork.

At such a young age, her creativity, confidence, and willingness to experiment are truly inspiring. We’re so proud of her artistic journey and can’t wait to see where her imagination takes her next.

Artist: Tindi Ronnie Chris
Series: Eclipse Art Series
Medium: Tindicolours Acrylics on Canvas
Size: 98 × 93 cm each
In the Eclipse Art Series, Tindi Ronnie Chris explores the quiet architecture of identity, memory, and spiritual movement through layered symbols, luminous colour, and rhythmic linework. These works exist between figuration and abstraction where the human form becomes both presence and portal.

The recurring circular structures suggest cycles, protection, cosmic balance, and ancestral memory, while the vibrant fields of electric greens and deep blues create an atmosphere that feels both meditative and alive. Every layered mark carries motion, as though thought itself has been painted into pattern.

Rather than offering fixed answers, these paintings invite reflection. They ask the viewer to pause, to look deeper, and to experience the emotional language hidden beneath colour and repetition.

Created with Tindicolours acrylics on canvas, each piece is a statement work designed not only to occupy space, but to transform it bringing intellect, energy, and contemporary African expression into conversation with the viewer.

For collectors, curators, and lovers of bold contemporary art, the Eclipse Art Series offers works that are visually striking, emotionally resonant, and unmistakably original.
