The best food you can eat is local organically grown vegetables!

It’s as simple as that.

Riverfest 2026 in one word: WOW! 🤩 Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated, and came out to enjoy the day with us! It’s takes a village to make this happen, and it’s times like these that we realize what an amazing village we have. We have so much love for you all! Until next year!

That's a wrap for my Friday Farm Features!

Through these short profiles, I hope you learned a little more about some of the wonderful farms and farmers that call Bucks County home.

Our local farms aren't just about healthier food. Our farms preserve and protect much of the open space that Bucks County is known for. Many of our local farmers employ organic and regenerative practices that are good for the health of our environment.

Their food tastes better because it is better, and the best way to keep it coming is to support your local farmers. The end result is a self-sustaining community, where you can actually meet the people who grow your food.

What a better way to celebrate Labor Day than to recognize some of the hardest working people we know, our farmers.

Thank you for following along this summer - I didn't make it to everyone I wanted to, so please let me know in the comments who else you would like to see!

Lately, I have had to go into my junk mailbox to look for ‘legitimate’ email communication. This doesn’t just happen to new contacts but old contacts of mine as well. This seems to happen more frequently now. From the junk mail subject titles, I can tell whatever businesses that are sending me these clearly think I’m a man. And quite a number of women want to show me their boobs and more! Not knowing that I already see and paint them regularly as part of my job. If you have reached out to me through email and not get a response, please keep trying! If you know a solution to this problem (like a setting I can adjust in my yahoo account), please let me know! I have not adjusted any setting but yahoo did recently updated me to a new version unprompted. I can’t reset it. But this problem preceded that. Thank you!!

@tinicumcsa is owned and operated by Bucks County native John Crooke. John’s interest in organic vegetable farming began at Cornell University, where he co-managed the student farm at Dilmun Hill. John is passionate about the farm and especially enjoys the edible results of vegetable farming and is excited to share this abundance with the community.

As part of the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance’s Summer Farm Tours, I recently toured Tinicum CSA. You can join the potluck breakfast and/or dinner prior to the tours or just show up for the tour itself.

This free program was designed to spread awareness of the organic farms in Bucks County and organic farming practices. Check @bucksfoodshed's website to register for future tours.

Tinicum CSA operates on 20 acres, offering 40 different vegetable crops as well as watermelon, cantaloupe and raspberries. The CSA currently serves close to 300 members. When flowers are blooming, CSA members will be able to pick their own flower bunches. John explained everything from seeding to harvesting. Using organic practices, as opposed to synthetic fertilizers and insecticides and herbicides or fungicides, John explained how they use cover crops to enhance and protect the soil. All of their produce is GMO-free. When you observe the abundance of an organic farm, it makes one question whether synthetic products are even needed, for when the ground and plants are healthy, they naturally repel disease.

Tinicum CSA is located in Upper Black Eddy, Bridgeton Township, farming the fertile bottomland soil of the Schneiderwind farm which overlooks the scenic Delaware River, immediately across the bridge from Frenchtown, NJ. The Schneiderwind Farm operates a retail business on site.

Explore the option of a CSA, which provides predictable income for the farmer and a steady stream of produce for the community members and sustainability fortheland.
