TECHNIQUE TUESDAY:

Atmosphere isn't an accident—it's an achievement. 🌫️🎬

Swipe to see the setup behind the mood.

For this scene, we wanted to create a sense of isolation and heavy history. By using a single key light with a lantern, a harsh "moonlight" for a rim, and a layer of atmospheric haze, we were able to pull our actor out of the shadows while keeping the "worn-in" textures of the room alive.

It’s one thing to have a great location; it’s another to make that location feel like a character of its own. At Feast Your Eyes Films, we obsess over these details so the viewer doesn't just watch the story—they feel the environment.

We shot this with the DJI Ronin 4D 6K and Sirui Saturn Anamorphics. Lights were the Aputure 600x with Aputure lantern and Amaran 60x. Edited and Color Graded in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

Do you prefer lighting that feels naturalistic, or do you love a high-contrast, moody "Noir" look? Drop a 💡 for Natural or a 🌑 for Moody in the comments!

We made a one take short film for @jakobowens Horror Short Film Contest. We had a lot of fun with this one, though, I didn't make the cut again, I will take it as a learning experience to get better.

Thanks for another great opportunity to make a film @jakobowens !

😱 Tis Spooky Season! 😱
-------------------------------------------------
On Thursday I shot my entry for this year's @jakobowens Horror Short Film Contest! It was a lot of fun!
.
One of the rules was to shoot a one take. It was my first attempt at a one take. The challenges I found with it were consistent lighting (especially with limited equipment) throughout the scene, and getting everything paced right in a 3 minute time limit.
.
First, we had to black out all the windows, since we were shooting during the day, we wanted a night look. My mom @tink4011 had the idea for the big cardboard frame around the window. We shot a 300d through some diffusion for a moonlight look.
.
I think it was a great learning experience! No matter how good one thinks they are, there is always time to learn, and I learned a lot!
.
Overall I am happy with the end result, especially with how low our budget was and the time frame we shot!
.
I could not have done it without my amazingly talented mom @tink4011 and my brother @gagegarciia (they did an amazing job with the monster makeup)
