🚫 FAKE PROP 🚫 The gang's all here!!! 🥹 some silly BTS from yesterday~ we are planning a larger multi-game Resident Evil shoot for a little later this year too 👀 I'm SO happy we could get this one just for Alpha Team (plus Rebecca) on the books though! I have wanted to do a full team cosplay for years, but group cosplays are notoriously are hard to organize and it's even harder when you are asking people to fill in rolls for characters who are, um, *short-lived*, so to speak 😂😭 I appreciate my friends for allowing me to dress them up, take them out to the woods on the hottest, most humid day of the year thus far, and take a bunch of dumb photos with me. Some of my friends are rabid RE fans, just like me, while others are simply very patient and kind, and clearly love me very much. I am lucky to know them all <3 This was even more fun than I could have imagined it to be! I have SO much more BTS to share too~ Thank you guys for yesterday. my first client spotlight was ten years ago; it was a showcase I coined myself back at the start of my cosplay photography career in 2016. I thought it was a fun way to blog about cons and show what I can do with a location. It took off, and I was so surprised back then to hear people actually looked forward to reading them, even if they didn’t work with me. It was really touching. It’s been TEN years. It’s actually really cute looking back at my writing and how spry I was. Spirit unbroken… amazing. I’m endeared by it. It’s also very cool to have a record of my work’s progression over the last decade. That’s very valuable to me as a visual archivist and someone always trying to grow. There’s something about @yeticon.official ; I keep gravitating towards the word “welcoming”, but I think what I’m really looking for is “joyous for the sake of it”. It lacks in something that is, nowadays, extremely refreshing to lack in: pretension. (Which, why is that in our anime cons anyway. Are we all not in wigs?) I digress. It doesn’t gatekeep. It welcomes, fiercely. I’m dating myself as unc here, but it exudes this 2006 con energy where Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt. Sitting out in the sun on the grass, watching tug-of-war and badminton played by cosplayers and kids and furries and weebs alike, I was suddenly brought back to those days where no one knew what a follower count was beyond deviantart. It was all just vibes; we wore crappy wigs from ebay and played duck-duck-goose outside a hotel and used the same tutorial for craft foam armor that was one JPG collage at like 800x15000px. And it was great. Those are golden memories of mine. I saw people making golden memories for themselves here at Yeti. That was extremely special. And then there was @hearthrobsofficial, which built a stage of inclusivity, diversity, and fun. enjoy the cursed green-room digicam. Thank you for welcoming any and all bodies and genders to the stage, and your lineup of diverse, well-rounded judges. Thanks for the stripper pole photo op. I won third place as a slutty priest Wolfwood and then drunkenly dragged my friend onto the golf course and laid in the grass looking up at the stars (they wouldn’t let me dive in the dunk tank. BOO) To build a space that celebrates EVERYONE is so crucial to surviving what the world is determined to do with us; joy is the greatest rebellion. the more we create and celebrate spaces like this the more we fight back. I also got behind the camera again as a con photog, which I hadn’t done in a while. Everyone was so nice. The light was perfect. Yeticon feels like summer camp. A departure from a world that expects you to perform and where instead you can just be. Have fun. That’s all that matters in the end!
