Today’s Lost Ancestor

Look at his eyes. There’s something so alert and thoughtful in his expression—it makes you wonder what he was thinking as he sat for this portrait.

His name is unknown to us, but the back of the photograph gives us a place to begin: Miss C. Smith’s Photograph Rooms, 100 Merrimack Street, up one flight, Lowell, Massachusetts. A small address preserved on the back of a card, still pointing us toward the story of the person pictured.

This portrait was photographed with permission at TinkerSmiths.

Do you recognize this gentleman, or have a connection to Lowell? We’d love to hear from you.
