🤣 @reedfisch’s got the jokes!

🏃‍♂️ We caught up with Reed Fischer during his @chimarathon build for one of his “easier” tune up threshold workouts. This was a slightly easier session sandwiched between two harder sessions around that same week.

📈 See how the @tinmanelite and Adidas athlete trained for the marathon. Reed ultimately ran 2:14:30 in Chicago while still battling/recovering from the flu.

“Athletics is an individual sport.” I’ve heard it a thousand times, and I’m not sure it’s as true as we might think.

From Carl Lewis and the Santa Monica Track Club to Keely Hodgkinson and the M11 crew in Manchester to Tinman Elite creating a loyal fan base that would rival the Taylor Swift army, some of the best stories in our sport have had a team behind them. Shared kit, shared training and shared fanbases.

I love that side of athletics. The problem is that the season isn’t built for it. Athletes race for themselves or their country, so even the best teams rarely get to compete as one and it’s hard to support a team you never see race as a team.

Are teams something that you’d want to see more of in competition and who are some of your favourites from over the years? Let me know below ⬇️

Flu game like MJ at @chimarathon yesterday, but a little less legendary. Came home in 2:14:30 after coming down with Flu A on Wednesday morning. Disappointed to not be able to capitalize on the best training block of my career, but sometimes that’s life. We work hard for things, we think we’ve earned a certain result or outcome, and we don’t get it. But I’m proud of the mindset I carried throughout yesterday’s race. Despite a less than ideal day, still not feeling 100%, and my first ever mid-race PortaPotty stop, I kept my foot on the gas as much as I could and never quit on myself.

The good news: the work we do on our bodies and minds in training doesn’t go away, and this build showed me that I’m capable of handling more than I previously thought. Looking forward to putting that new belief to work again soon.

Having fun, enjoying what you do, and getting your rest. Just a few of the tips Emily Durgin shared with the kids on finding success.

@em_durgin talked with the kids on The Devil’s in the Detail Podcast about what she does for fun, her dog Winston, and so much more during her time with the kids.

Took the win at the @boulderthon Half this morning in 64:31. It’s always good to break the tape, especially at home. Finn’s first race, childhood friends, teammates, neighbors, competitors, and so many other familiar faces out there on the course made this one special.

We’re in a good place. Two weeks to Chicago!

Race week! Lining up for the half marathon at @boulderthon on Sunday morning. There’s nothing better than sleeping in your own bed before a race, especially when you’re waking up to that Flatirons view.

I’ll also be at the expo at 2pm on Saturday for a Q&A with @precisionfandh, so come say hey and get any pre-race questions answered!

RETURN TO @runcim262 WEEK 7
(@surfcity10 10 MILER) 🌊🐇⚒️

2nd race of the build and new PR for 10 miles, still no sub 60 but gladly take a new time. Had the same leg issue as before but won't make it set me back. Next few weeks is just grinding up milage and building speed

Week 3 Long Run | 18 miles steady at 6:39 avg. As a reminder, when things get cooler the heat training works. 6:39 felt like a breeze in the 59-60 temps this morning.
