Things worth the money: bathroom edition.

After 4+ years of slowly creating a lower-tox home and beauty routine, I’ve tried A LOT. Clean beauty, hair care, body care, skincare, fragrance swaps…some were absolutely not worth the hype, and some have earned a permanent spot in my bathroom.

These are the products I actually use, actually love + would spend my money on again.

That distinction matters. Low-tox living doesn’t mean replacing everything overnight or buying every “clean” product on the internet. It’s been about finding better swaps that work so well I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing anything.

Less perfection, more intentional upgrades that I genuinely love using.

LOW-TOX MAIL is back 📦 and apparently my version of balance is lowering my everyday exposures while still having packages show up at my door on the reg.

After my cancer diagnosis in 2022, I started paying a lot more attention to the products I use every day…. what I put on my body, bring into my home, cook with, sleep on, clean with + even travel with.

But my background is in fashion. I LOVE products. I love trying new things. And I was never going to become the person who stopped shopping altogether. 😂

So this is what low-tox living actually looks like for me: not perfection, not fear, and definitely not replacing everything overnight. Just researching, learning, finding better swaps when they make sense and still enjoying my life.

This week’s low-tox mail has a little bit of everything: including a pair of 100% cotton pants I’m currently deciding whether I love enough to keep. 👀

And yes, I will absolutely tell you when something isn’t worth it too.

I broke up with conventional perfume…but I still want to smell really freaking good. 😂

When I started lowering my everyday exposure to synthetic + undisclosed fragrance and looking at all the little “drops in my bucket,” perfume was one of the harder swaps for me because I really just LOVE a scent.

And trust me, I’ve explored it all. Essential oils, “clean” perfume brands, fragrance oils, body oils…all the things.

Some were too earthy. Some disappeared in 10 minutes. Some called themselves clean but still had ingredient lists I wasn’t totally comfortable with. And some just didn’t make me feel like me.

These are the ones that have actually stuck.

The products I reach for over and over because they let me keep that ritual of smelling GOOD while being more intentional about what I’m putting on my body.

And they’re not all the same kind of swap. There’s actual plant-based perfume, pure cacao oil, botanical deodorant, body oil, tallow + roll-on natural fragrance.

I’m not chasing perfection here. I look at individual formulas, ingredient transparency and overall exposure. For me, finding cleaner fragrance and lower-tox perfume alternatives doesn’t mean my entire life has to smell like nothing. 😂
