Two beautiful years with this company have come to an end and words can’t describe just how grateful I feel. I’d only been dancing for 7 months when nydc picked me up, and all of a sudden lil 16 year old me was able to dream so much bigger and do things I never thought to be possible. There’s so many young people just like me who can dance like this but will never get the chance to due to the barriers they face and not having a community to uplift them- Ive been SO privileged to have received the support, funding, training and experience that I have, and to have had countless opportunities made accessible to me through a team that works so hard and has always ensured that our well-being and happiness is prioritised at the centre of everything they do. From residencies, touring and teaching to audio description and summer schools, I’ve been gifted some truly one of a kind experiences and have met so many unique individuals- the dance community is one that’s rooted in human connection and kindness and this company has made that so clear for me to see. Im so bloody lucky and just grateful grateful grateful. I love to love and I love to dance and there’s been so much of that in my time here.
