“HEART OF THE HERD” 🐘 48”x48”| 4’x4’ - 1 year ago today I painted one of my favorite pieces of all time. Loved her so much that after she showed in downtown Houston I ended up keeping her for myself and admire her beauty everyday at my own home. 🐘💛🩶🩷 #art #elephant #painting #houstonartist #elephantart

Peace Beautiful Community 🌸 If you’ve been here a while - hey yall! And if you’re new here - welcome! Let’s get (re)acquainted, shall we? 👋🏾 I’m Jiana, Founder and Director of Get Fresh Daily and the human behind this page. Its my purpose and pleasure to create beautiful spaces for us to gather, have fun, eat well, connect with the earth and connect with others striving to thrive. My path has not been linear; Ive had to blast through personal and professional walls, endure many a slammed door. But I dug deep, listened to my heart, asked (and listened 👆🏾✨) to the universe for guidance, committed to my healing path and never gave up. What started as a school-based wellness initiative in 2017 (I’m a former classroom teacher; children will always be my heart 🍎) has expanded to engage the good folks living in West Philly and then the broader community through our garden, Black Farmers Markets, Fresh Takes Produce Box, and other dynamic wellness events - all with the intention of making holistic wellness resources multidimensional, inviting, encouraging and equally accessible to everyone - no matter who or where you are in your healing journey. At the heart of my world, @madebymurdic calls me mama! He is my absolute favorite everything, my best human, my greatest accomplishment and has been and always my inspiration. If you’re interested in learning more about my personal journey and inspiration for GFD, I’m finally making my personal page public - today! @essentially_jia 🌸 🌸 Before You Go 🌸 I rarely post pics of myself, but I’m here, telling this story through my eyes. Im private (double scorpio/virgo 🙈✌🏾) so being present on here can be hard sometimes. Im also very busy managing all the things, so your understanding is appreciated. If Im not here, Im out in the world, doing my best, caring for myself, loving on my family, and pouring into this work that means so much to me. Look forward to seeing you in the garden soon!💕 #getfreshdaily #freedomgreensandgardens #blackfarmers #blackfarmersmarket #farmersmarket #communitygardens #urbangardens #seededwatermelon #eatlocal #eatorganic #foodjustice #foodsovereignty #westphiladelphia

Ten years ago this past November, a simple “what if?” turned into our very first art exhibition: a month-long, self-funded takeover of an incredible space where we asked artists, “What if? And can we capture it?” It was bold, off the grid, and completely unconventional. From the start, we all had different visions for what #TRFE could become, but our shared mission was clear: to create a platform for unknown, emerging, and infamous creatives while uplifting and strengthening the creative community. Over the past decade, we’ve hosted five exhibition/festivals, showcasing hundreds of creatives and welcoming more than 70,000 attendees. We’ve had the privilege of partnering with Expressway Productions, Live Nation, Red Bull, TITO’S, Philly PR Girl, SONY, FOX29, Champion, Visit Philadelphia, Blick, Federal Donuts, the DRWC and so many more to bring some of the largest public-facing art shows Philadelphia has ever seen to life. But the real magic is the unquantifiable success. The countless connections made. Creatives discovering each other, collaborating, forming bonds, and pouring their passion into late nights and early mornings to make these dreams a reality. As we prepare for our final event, we invite you to join us this Friday night at The Philadelphia Museum of Art to celebrate 10 years of daring ideas, deep connections, and unforgettable memories.
