A fun Christmas Card design for my accountant @titaniumhq.ca

We have been using Jamie’s services a loooooong time since 2009?…. I love how we each stay in our respective lanes… I would never attempt to go and reconcile anything in Quickbooks, and I don’t think he would ever attempt to open Photoshop… 😂

Three tips @titaniumhq.ca Principal Jamie Abbott would share with an entrepreneur are to prioritize your values, build for growth from day one and spend more money on marketing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Think from the beginning about how clients will see your position in the marketplace. Are you their low, medium or best choice? What do you need to do to keep a good impression in their mind?” Abbott said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Looking back, Abbott is glad he made the choice to switch career paths. If he kept doing the same, nothing would have changed and he wouldn’t have progressed to where he is now, he said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I think it is a sense of achievement that I built this. We have four employees now, full time. So, we are providing jobs and a great place to work,” Abbott said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Outside of work and being an entrepreneur, Abbott loves riding bicycles and motorcycles. Recently, he took a motorcycle trip through Canada, from British Columbia back to Toronto.

@titaniumhq.ca Principal Jamie Abbott said his favorite parts of EO Accelerator are shared learning experiences and focusing on his business during the four learning days.

“Every time I come out of one of the EO Accelerator learning days, I have a list of 30 things to do, and I hope to realistically do four or five. But, it shows you all the steps you need to take to keep growing your business,” Abbott said.

A major lesson Abbott said he learned in EO Accelerator was to shift the business from being entrepreneur-based to being system-based. As his business grows, Abbott said the biggest challenge is adjusting and rebuilding his processes to continue that growth.

“We were operating in my head, then on lists and now we are building a system to do all of those things for us. Everything from practice management to client engagement. Our processes and everything radically changed in the last year,” Abbott said.

Moving forward with growth, Abbott said he is prioritizing a system for mapping Titanium HQ’s processes and taking steps to ensure client satisfaction.

After leading a successful career in banking, Jamie Abbott decided he could do better as an entrepreneur. In 2008, he lost his 500 contacts from his banking world in order to start fresh on his own.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I wanted that entrepreneurial experience. My brother had his own business for 10 years, and I was a little envious,” Abbott said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, Abbott is the principal at @titaniumhq.ca, a CPA office that offers financial business support—bookkeeping, accounting, taxes and advisory—to owners and managers of small to medium-sized companies.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In 2020, Abbott decided to join EO Accelerator for the structure and accountability groups.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“People in my EOA group are amazing. You get so much from their insights. The tiniest little bit makes a huge difference,” Abbott said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During one of Abbott’s accountability group sessions, a fellow group member brought up closing calls. On this topic, Abbott realized he had too many closing calls, and he might need to adjust prices and structure.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“That was a face-palm moment. It was a game changer, and it came right off another participant,” Abbott said.
