This past weekend I hosted my third annual record and whiskey night. It’s one of my favorite evenings of the year.

Some people couldn’t make it. A lot of people could. I probably missed some people too. Either way the whole point was just.. hey, we’re all doing this together. Come eat, come drink, come hang, come jam. No agenda. No reason other than to be in the same room.

I woke up the next morning feeling more fulfilled than I have in a while.

It’s so easy in doing this music thing to put your head down and isolate. To look at the people around you as competition instead of community. I’ve talked about this before and I’ll keep talking about it. That couldn’t be further from the truth. We are literally all doing this together. Every single one of us.

Small things like a night around a record player with the people you love are a reminder of that. No streams, no credits, no following. Just people who care about music and each other in the same room.

Friends and people in general are what make this life rich. I post on here because I love encouraging people I’ve never met. But the ones I get to do this with in real life. You all know who you are. You mean more to me than I probably say enough.

Anyways this is a reminder to just go hang and make a record with your friends. K love you bye 🤍

There’s been so much work, beauty, love, challenge in the last few months. I haven’t had a chance to share much but here’s some snippets from recent moments.

I love being a dad. My wife @goodcowboyvintage is incredible. We make a good team and Lord knows we’ve had plenty of curve balls thrown our way!

Got to shoot with @greysonmessier during some recent swell and been making lots of art as well:)

Took some portraits with some childhood heroes of mine @jonforeman and @jamiethomas for @imperfects. Also fun shoots with @madelumber and @scottlsanford for Imperfects as well.

Got to see an old friend @xylowoodcraft and capture some images together:)

Lots of dirt bike riding w/ @wilderness in-between which is always a blessing.

I’m probably missing a lot but wanted to share a little of what i’ve been up to!

It’s not all roses. Plenty of challenge and struggle mixed in with the beauty but that’s life. Darkness makes the light shine brighter.

Thankful to be alive and on the journey.

I never got around to sharing about this new song released a few weeks ago. Every once in a while the melody and words to a song come really fast in one sitting. This was one of those. I was sitting on the porch playing guitar and the song just popped in my head in 15 minutes. It was recorded the next day at @susanstreetstudio. It’s called “You In My Head.” I couldn’t have recorded this without the great minds and musical juice brought by @dumbanddrummer and @jsnbnntt. It would mean a lot if you went and gave it a listen wherever you stream music. Much love everyone.

Every year, we get to partner with Hobie Surf Shop for a locals night packed with live music, surf films, talk story, and share some laughs.

This year we had another SOLD OUT evening to celebrate HOBIE’s 75th anniversary. 💥

With guest speakers Mickey Munoz, Mark Christy, Dick Metz, Jeff Alter, Pat O’Connell, and Kris Carlow 🙌 we could have stayed all week listening to stories and reminiscing 🌊

Next week on Nov 4th i’ll be playing at Hobie Surf Shop in Laguna Beach as part of @coastfilmfestival. Doors at 5:30! Tickets at the door and also we’ll be screening Nathan Florence’s Slab Tour as well as Hobies 75th anniversary film. Come through and lets have a nice evening:)

The festival line up is quite rad as well with lots of my favorite artists like @jackjohnson @mattcostamusic @hermanosgutierrez @zachgill playing on different days. I’m honored to be a small part of this action packed schedule! See you on the 4th!
