I’m so excited to announce I’ve joined the @nffjackson team as Food Vendor Coordinator for the 83rd National Folk Festival this November!
I LOVE FOOD. I LOVE THE SERVICE INDUSTRY.

Since dropping out of college in 2016 the restaurant industry has given me some of my best friends, sweetest memories, and delicious meals. Working as a hostess, waitress, bartender, then bar manager has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Our state has incredible food and the people behind it are what make it taste so good.

Want to serve your food to thousands of people from all over the nation this fall?
Reach out to me to get plugged in to the festival.

Let’s show em’ what we’re made of, Mississippi.

This Sunday I’ll be publishing my first substack & playlist from NORA NORA. You can expect an email and good music in your inbox every Sunday morn if you subscribe (link in bio) 🫂

Through “NORA NORA” I hope to bring you inspired music curation rather than AI/algorithmic suggestion. My idea is to share human curated playlists that are done with intention.

I’m really excited to share some good music from good people 💌

Re-introducing “As I Live and Breathe: Stories of the South, Told By Its People”.

When I first imagined this project, I kept returning to the same questions:

✸What do we lose when our narratives are oversimplified?
✸What happens when we are seen for all that we are?
✸Who decides what stories are worth telling? Who gets to tell them?

We are witnessing what happens when narratives are used as a weapon against entire communities. It is the demand of us, the people, to show what it looks like when it is used as a force of liberation. Stories are the common thread that binds us beyond geography and our history is the map that helps us orient ourselves as we reconcile, reclaim, and reshape the narratives we inherit.

Stories shape belief. Belief shapes how we see the world. And how we see the world shapes how we care for one another.

The more people I’ve photographed, engaged with, and celebrated, the clearer it’s become why preservation work matters, especially now. On this National Strike (01/30), I wanted to share the purpose of this book again, in hopes that it might inspire others to use their own gifts to help create and sustain the conditions for safety, survival, empathy, and belonging, in whatever community you may find yourself in.

We are in really demanding times, where financial giving is not on the table for many of us, so in true Southern fashion, I am also here to ask you, my neighbor, for support in other ways!

✸ SHARE this post and let me know if you know of any opportunities where this project could grow with intention!

✸ JOIN the vision.

✸ MOST IMPORTANTLY, take the vision of this book out into the world by being curious about every person you meet. Ask your loved ones about their lives & share more about yours. Acknowledge those who feel invisible . Take care of yourself and others. Practice empathy and community care daily.

Took pictures of @rksbandofficial in Hattiesburg. One of the best live performances I've ever seen. Thank you to @tj.barnett letting me take photos and @g.r.a.n.t.g.a.r.l.a.n.d @peachy_savvyy for getting us tickets and being the best company.

Greg put this post together. He is fantastic.
