Skateboarding is a lesson in humility. It pulls me WAY out of my comfort zone and forces me to confront my fears. Constantly. I am the stereotypical “old head “ that should quit skating, because I’m always getting throttled, but I reckon that I’m either too stupid or that I’m a glutton for punishment. It has been one of the blessings in my life to share skating with my two sons, and the memories of our sessions are ones that I will take to my grave. I am lucky that I get to travel for work, and I’ve skated the best skateparks around the Southeast. @surfcityskatepark is my local. I’m an early morning guy. Come skate with me tomorrow… #thankyouskateboarding #goskateboardingday #june21 #bonesforlife 🤘❤️🙏 God bless.

When I was a punk kid, in that age and realm of puberty, when I knew everything about EVERYTHING, I had this coach. Classic coach. This coach used to preach about “effort” and throw us sermons about how “effort takes no talent,” meanwhile we’re beating the crap out of TERRY SANFORD and FAYETTEVILLE ACADEMY (soccer). But I realized at a young age that I had way more “effort” than I did “talent.” That old @$$ Coach was my father. As cliché as it was, I didn’t realize how brilliant he was until I was older. I have two sons. Kieran and TJ. They are both WAY more athletic than I ever was/is, but I don’t push, I don’t force, because my dad (my high school coach) never did. Kids will find their passion. In all humility, both of my boys have insane athleticism. But I won’t push, only encourage, and my only cheerleading is “effort is everything.” TJ, giving his best effort and paddling out at The Wall yesterday, in NH, in full winter wetsuit battle attire. Kieran, still on the gas, would walk into the house bruised and bloody from a day of skating back when he was a grom. The ocean throws you life lessons that you have to learn on your own. Skating. Same deal. Only way more gnarly. Me, a dirt bag sales rep that has to grind it out daily to support his family. Same scenario. Effort. Is. Everything. Thank you, coach. Much love. Many thanks. 🙏❤️🤙🤘

Home. NH will always be home. Our tribe is in Hampton. Our hearts are in Hampton. What an amazing summer. Meg and TJ were there all summer. Kieran popped up there for a two week stint, and I bounced back-n-forth as my work schedule allowed. Ohana beach days with our crew on 12th St, surfing with my homies almost daily at first light, and having to make that brutal 15-17hour commute was absolutely worth all of the glorious memories we made over the course of the summer. Bruno, my dog, and I pulled into our driveway here in NC a little while ago and I’m already homesick. Much love to y’all. See you soon. Live free or die! ❤️🤙
