Enjoy a morning of magic with a sound bath and meditative watercolor practice as butterflies dance around you at the Butterfly House at Navy Pier! 🦋✨️ In this gathering, we harness the power of sound, vibration, breath, and art to relax, connect with our bodies, cultivate presence in heart and mind, and explore our natural flow state. We'll begin with a sound bath led by Heidi Kohz @heidikohz — resonant crystal bowls, tinkling chimes, and breath — while butterflies flutter through the air around us. Some may rest on your shoulder or a hand. After the sound bath, we'll ground our experience with a meditative watercolor session led by artist Tai Kojro-Badziak @tkb.studios, capturing the energy of the morning. No experience necessary — just brush, water, and pigment moving as slowly as your breath. Let color settle the way the butterflies do: unhurried, unbidden, exactly where it wants to land. You'll leave rested, rejuvenated and energized! Wear comfortable clothes and bring a chair, yoga mat, or other pad to sit or lie on; the Butterfly House has a crushed gravel pathway we will be lying on. All art supplies will be provided, but you're welcome to bring a sketchbook or your own materials if you're inspired 🎨 Get your tickets through the link in our bio!!! Limited spots available! #thingstodoinchicago #chicagoevents #chicagosummer #chicagofamily #explorechicago

Yesterday , as we hung our handmade paper to dry on the clothesline, something stirred in me. I was suddenly transported back to childhood—to a time when nearly everyone hung their clothes on lines. It was part of the daily rhythm, especially for women. I remember playing beneath those lines, hiding in freshly washed sheets and sun-warmed towels. The smell of soap and summer air. The simplicity of it. The intimacy. A neighbor of mine once made an entire book of photographs taken across the U.S., documenting clotheslines. A quiet portrait of domestic life. And now here we were—hanging paper. Paper that holds water and fiber, but also story, memory, intention. Paper as a vessel for transmission—for writing, for witnessing, for sharing something real. Watching the sheets shift in the breeze, I thought: these papers are like us. Formed by what they’re made of, yes—but also shaped by sun, wind, weather. Just like we are. Each one drying differently. Each one turning out uniquely, beautifully. Just like us. i’m so grateful for everyone who came for this inaugural paper making party in our garden. If you missed it and would like to join the next one, I’ve got you. I’m scheduling more of them for July and August. Feel free to answer with your most available dates and let’s make some more magic happen. #papermaking #memoryandmeaning #clotheslines #handmadepaper #beautyinprocess #intentionalliving #storythroughmaterial #creativecommunity #paperasprayer #slowcraft #childhoodmemories #sunandwind
