dear taekwondo,

after 14 years of doing taekwondo, it’s crazy to even think that this is possibly the end of an era.

everyone at uscr has become my second family, and uscr itself was and always will be, my second home. for the past few years, my whole life revolved around taekwondo. every two hour team class, every volunteer day, every day where i ate in the car on the way to work, every demo team practice, every late night practice before tournaments, every crazy sparring referee day, and every day i spent with the most amazing group of people i have ever met, will always hold a special place in my heart.

uscr taekwondo, grandmaster gi woo um, and master cindy have done so much for me. getting my 1st and 2nd degree at uscr, moving away, coming back, and ending this journey with my 5th degree. they have provided me with so many opportunities and experiences, as a student and an instructor, that i will never take for granted. i’ve learned more about myself than i ever thought i could. they taught me to be confident in myself, my skills, and my teaching abilities. they’ve pushed me to higher levels and sometimes even to my limit, but they have never stopped supporting me, whether it was taekwondo related or not. they’ve helped me grow as an individual and i could not be more grateful to have spent my time at uscr.

to my amazing friends,
you guys make me better. i already miss you all. i could not be more proud of what every single one of you guys have accomplished and i cannot wait to see what you guys do next! it’s been an absolute honor training next to the most talented group of people i know and watching you guys grow too. thank you for everything you have done for me.

and thank you to everyone else who’s supported me along the way. listening to my rants and cries, making hard days more bearable, making me laugh, and for just being there for me whenever i needed it. i wouldn’t be where i am today if it wasn’t for my family, instructors, friends, students, and little kiddos.

and who knows? maybe i’ll be back. but for now, this is the end of a beautiful era. i love you all.

taekwondo, you’ve been good to me.
