@deadformat August Vinyl Challenge

August 29: A record that brings out your best air guitar.

Also brings out my best Muay Thai. Coach @delcorobmac started class last night with “New Lords” and set my mindset straight the whole time. My rhythm needs a lot of work, but still throwing knees and skip kicks through every song. Maybe some air guitar too.

It’s been 4 years since New Lords and 3.5 years since I got to see them. New joints and PNW shows please.

All facts!

With the release of their 1988 and 1990 demos, At All Cost played throughout the Northeast opening for the Cro Mags, Token Entry, Maximum Penalty, Vision, Destruction, Sub Zero, Killing Time, Biohazard, Nausea, Morbid Angel and Biohazard. After failed attempts at releasing a proper record the band called it quits, with members splintering off to form Dahlia Seed and Atlas Shrugged. This LP collects both of At All Cost’s demos remastered from the original recordings and a live cover of Attitude Adjustment’s “Fuck Chuck” and showcases their NYHC sound which would appeal to fans of Killing Time, Token Entry, Absolution and Altercation.

ATLAS SHRUGGED - The Last Season (Trip Machine Laboratories, 1994)
The Last Season is Atlas Shrugged’s only full-length, a hidden 90s hardcore gem that never got the recognition it deserved. Heavy, groovy, and melodic in all the right spots, it balances just the right amount of metallic flavor with heartfelt hardcore energy. Frequent Burn comparisons aren’t off the mark. Lyrically, it explores inner turmoil, greed, love, and self-destruction. The vocals sit a bit high in the mix, but every track hits, even with longer runtimes. Ugly cover art aside, this is a criminally underrated statement of 90s hardcore, full of brains, bite, and strong songwriting.
