DUD03## T-Models (@tmodelsband) self titled debut EP is a clobber-fest masterclass in monumental post-punk. A plaster cast of temperance smoldering and scattering itself - in typical anarchic fashion, the bands jagged displacement of imagery and tones land like thrown bottles shattering just shy of impact; immediate, volatile, leaving a dispersion of puncture wounds in its wake. “Portrait of Swine” the second track on the EP threads a guttural chord progression with Alex Flaskas’s brittle and often jack hammer style delivery giving the whole thing a violent militancy. Eventually realising itself in a manic head rush and what sounds like the tracks lyrical catharsis; “hear those freaks singin’ with desire, flash fire on their graves, long nights put to sleep, when politicians found pollock”. Another stand out track on the EP is “(No) New Sensations” - another blindingly strenuated progression. Bryce Flaskas’s vocal delivery ranges from pulverised celebrity freak to maria sharapova spike-scandal-sympathiser. The whole thing revelling in itself, even clutching its own charred remains in tin foil before imploding with fretted cries and choked orchestral glory. “450 BC” and “Amphetamine Pulse” are equally worth a mention, as both of these tracks were previously released as demos now renovated (squatting). “450 BC”’s antagonising main riff and Connor Menkes brooding approach on drums create a dark, primal atmosphere. Bryce Flaskas’s apocalyptic, “end is nigh” vocal execution sounds as if he’s preaching straight from a refused styrofoam tablet. And the lyrics themselves (whether the band was conscious of this or not) read fluently from a Freudian psycho-sexual perspective; “what’s my, what’s my nation? what’s my, fascination?”. “Amphetamine Pulse”, in comparison is easily the bands moodiest composition to date, transporting the listener from scarce drum and bass groove to more prominent pillars of thrashing sound. Tyler Pecks minimal use of scratchy guitar and Alex Flaskas’s suffocating vocal delivery across the track build - until finally amassed into a carnage of synchronized guitars and bellowing saxophone.
