Did you know there’s a 20-page scientific white paper on how nursery rhymes cultivate cognitive and emotional skills in young children? Authored by early childhood education specialists for the TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health (@tmw3ts), University of Chicago, Stayce Camparo, M.A. Soc; M.A. Psych, Liz Sablich, M.P.P., and Dana L. Suskind, M.D., “Reimagining Mother Goose” details the scientific evidence supporting the developmental benefits of Cabinet of Wonder. Find the full PDF on our website — link in story. An excerpt:

“Cabinet of Wonder serves to support early childhood educators by providing a tool that is grounded in current research, makes the classroom a fun and engaging learning environment, while also addressing the challenges posed by policymakers’ over-reliance on kindergarten-readiness metrics. Rather than prepare children for kindergarten using rote learning, Cabinet of Wonder engages children in learning through their entire body using Arts education to aid in the development of both cognitive and noncognitive skill formation.”

Two very special visitors came to the TMW Center today. ❤️👶👶

There’s something magical about seeing the science we care about so deeply come to life in the people we love and work alongside. Welcome to the @tmw3ts family, Humam and Lila. We’re so happy you’re here. 🥰

An (unofficial) (and very adorable) research participant in our team’s work to refine an algorithm that decodes children’s babbling. Also known as: My brilliant colleague Imrul brought his baby to the office for a visit 🥰🥰🥰

The @tmw3ts team has brought six new little humans into the world in the past year! I feel so grateful to witness these life-changing moments, and it’s truly inspiring to watch everyone jump in to cover one another’s roles so the new parents can be with their babies during that beautiful, transformative early period ❤️

In Thirty Million Words, Dr. Dana Suskind helped transform how we understand the power of parent-child interaction. Now, in her forthcoming book Human Raised, she explores a new question for the age of AI: what can technology replicate, and what can only come from human connection?

✨We’ve hosted our share of baby showers at @tmw3ts over the years, but today was the first time we celebrated without the mom-to-be 🥰 Our beloved Morgan’s little girl couldn’t wait to meet her amazing parents, so she joined the world a couple weeks early! (We love a girl who lives by her own rules!)

✨Nevertheless, we persisted. And nobody takes onesie decorating more seriously than a multi-disciplinary team of psychologists, technologists, curriculum developers, and data researchers. @ajays_26 even spelled out baby Lila’s name in the International Phonetic Alphabet—a nod to mom’s speech language pathology bona fides.

✨Welcome to the world, baby Lila. We can’t wait to watch you change it.
