These mountains have my heart 🏔️

Just when running feels like it’s about to break you, it has some way of creating you again. Not the same, but different. Stronger. More aware. More you.

This weekend was an incredible highlight of my running year so far. What you don’t see here is only a few months ago, when I was in the depths of suffering from POTs. I would plan long runs with my crew only to get to half way, be absolutely exhausted, mentally and physically, and have to sit on the side of the road literally in tears, waiting for James to come and pick me up. I didn’t know what was wrong and it was months of wondering and questioning if I’d ever feel good on a run again.

I planned Tarawera50 to have to drop to the 21, and even then I struggled through that. I honestly thought there would be no way I’d be able to push my way to 50km any time soon.

But patience, positivity and downright passion to run, I very slowly worked my way back. I did all the 1%s . I increased my fluids significantly, I slept 8+ hrs a night, I made sure to eat enough in and around training, and I gradually began to feel better.

There is always a way out, and the most important thing is your mindset. The ‘poor me card’ will never get you to your potential. But the ‘why not me’ card will.

Thanks to my beautiful friends for all the shared miles. To @tmylck for the wise words in preparation for this gnarly course. My family for all the support. To @nikerunning and @acg for the constant source of inspiration and innovation. And to @ultratrailaustralia and the incredible trail community for the BEST WEEKEND ever. Buffalo marathon 2024! What a race. What a weekend put on by @singletrack_events
A lot off highs and some lows. Went toe to toe with the devil from 30-35km and won via split decision! Thanks to Jesus out on course for giving me a cramp fix which gave me the second wind I needed! Absolutely brutal course. Up there with one off hardest marathons in Australia without a doubt!

Well done to all runners out on course. Certainly deserved the medal and beer over the finish line! 🤙🤙

Onto the next, jabulani 22km in 2 weeks time…lesssgoooo!
