what an experience! 💓🫶🌸 mum & I were given a huge opportunity to paint a series of painting to represent the ‘future of women’ to be exhibited in the First Building of the newest city in Australia since 100 years !!!! we had such a lovely time brainstorming, talking to friends & family about the future and painting together 🥺🥺 we haven’t painted together since I was a kid, so this was such a wholesome and precious experience. so grateful for Jax, Daisy & the PYT team for inviting us and giving us this huge opportunity to not only be involved in the beginning of the newest city in australia but to work together as a mother-daughter duo 🫶🫶 always grateful for the work you do for the community, for the arts, and for western sydney. 🥰 I’m so excited to see the growth of Bradfield city! it fills my heart with joy knowing that Bradfield Development Authority is working so closely with the community, connecting arts & science and recognising the efforts of women in society. 🌟 this is such a beautiful process and i can’t wait to say in 2070 that I was there when Bradfield first begun! ✨🌟💫 FRUITFUL HOME OF TOMORROW 2025 🍉🌸🌎 The artwork series reimagines a future where women lead and live in a community, harmonious with nature. Watermelon House 🍉 sees women living and growing in harmony with nature. They are engineers, mathematicians, scientists, and artists. This artwork dreams of a sustainable future, where humans and the environment live together in balance, and our homes become part of the living world instead of standing apart from it. We’re Going on an Adventure 🌎 captures the beautiful strength community and inter-generational sharing and learning between women. Come along to Women Who Launch this Friday 7 November, and discover the incredible stories, creativity, and innovation of women shaping our world We’re proud to present four stunning exhibitions from local and national artists, alongside a rare collection from the Powerhouse Museum archives: - Nancy Bird Walton Photoseries: Explore the life of Australia’s pioneering aviator through rare archival images celebrating her fearless spirit and lasting legacy. - Anney Bounpraseuth’s Built to Transform: A living, evolving textile artwork inspired by the butterfly’s metamorphosis and the resilience of women in STEM. - Louise Whelan’s Women in Space Industry Australia: A striking oral history and photography collection capturing the women powering Australia’s space frontier. - Tammy Dang & Thao Nhi La’s Fruitful Home of Tomorrow: A joyful, imaginative vision of a sustainable future led by women in harmony with nature. Stay for two inspiring panel discussions, hosted by Dr Kirsten Banks, featuring leading scientists, engineers, and artists including Prof. Veena Sahajwalla, Prof. Kate Stevens, Louise Whelan and Nina Earl. It is laid on a table that is filled with all the tools and materials that were probably used to make it like thread, scrap materials, markers, etc.

We’re excited to introduce the artists in ‘To the Table’ an upcoming exhibition, curated by @potluck_ari. The table is a place to gather and eat, to be in communion and to work; it is a place to be challenged, to feel our perspectives broaden. The six Western Sydney artists of ‘To The Table’ explore the inevitable beauty and tension of gathering; their works share lessons with us and bestow blessings. Rae Boggs (@serialcatnapper) tells us that time must be spent together to share stories. Karlina Mitchell (@karlina_mitchell) suggests the preparation of any food is a labour of love, and Keorattana Luangrathrajasomba (@bykeorattana) responds that the meal itself is a gravitational force. Thao Nhi La (@tnlala)’s work speaks to the harmony of fusion and the joy of belonging. Jamie Jude Smith (@jamiejudesmithart)’s work notes how the sharing of a meal has its own complexities –– but there is contentment in this experience, too, Eleanor Wickens (@timetravellin.fish) reminds us. They add, we must memorialise the remnants of a good time, wrapping them carefully like leftovers to enjoy again later. The exhibition gently asks: what would you like to bring to the table? PYT Fairfield is thrilled to curate the Women Who Launch program as part of Bradfield City’s First Building creative activations. This initiative brings together artists from Western Sydney to celebrate women in STEM and ignite creativity throughout the building. Weeds Crack Concrete is closing this Sunday! 𖡼𖤣𖥧𖡼𓋼𖤣𖥧𓋼𓍊 Featuring the vivid family portrait of veteran Western Sydney mural artist, Thao Nhi La 🪷🌼 Four Generations, 2023-25 Acrylic on canvas 4 panels each 91 x 91 cm Sitting down on a sunny afternoon...eyes wandering... capturing the array of hues scattered across my palette. I brush strokes of vibrant colours across the fresh, blank canvas. This is what I love to do. Spread creativity and happiness - this is how I experience true joy. With my strong sense of connection towards family and culture, I incorporated a significant personal element into my painting; having grown up in a large family of four generations and 37 family members, my aim was to create a harmonious artwork - one portraying unity and interconnectedness. Inspired by the pigs represented in Vietnamese Folk paintings, as well as Dong Ho’s woodblock printing, I strived to depict a family that is not only abundant in size, but in happiness, joy and warmth as well. In my artwork, each pig represents a member of our family. The first generation is denoted by the largest pigs. In contrast, the fourth generation is depicted as the smallest pigs. Moreover, I believe it is crucial to truly recognise and appreciate one another’s individuality and unique qualities. Thus, I have purposefully dedicated a different coloured pig to each family member. Thank you for joining us at Garden of Joy, it was a pleasure hosting over 200 guests on a glorious winter's afternoon. Thank you to Uncle Darrell Fabar for opening the event with a beautiful smoking ceremony. Many thanks to the artists and performers who offered guests an opportunity to come together and celebrate Southeast & East Asian arts and culture. Qing Fong Dragon and Lion Dance Team brought on the festivities with an energetic performance of acrobatics and dance, inviting good luck and prosperity to all. Cambodian Living Arts & Culture entertaining guests with an exquisite presentation of ancient Khmer dance and live music. Mr Bao introduced guests to the benefits of Tai Chi, welcoming them into a meditative experience through slow and gentle movement. Throughout the afternoon artists presented activities, workshops and artworks. Celine Cheung led a stunning workshop inviting guests to contribute to making a Community Fabric Mural. Tianli Zu ran workshop in Paper Cutting, with participants creating intricate patterns through simple paper cutting techniques, alongside Tammy and Thao’s Lantern Making and Woodstamp Cardmaking workshops. Emma Pham’s ‘Star Crossed Lovers’ photobooth lit up the night and warmed hearts, while Adeline Teoh introduced guests to tea culture with a brewing demonstration and tea tasting that warmed our hands. Local band Heart Armour shook things up with a live performance of experimental music loaded with a sense of chaos, openness, volume and spirited improvisation. In the gallery artists Kean Onn See and Carielyn Tunion presented an intimate artist’s talk, discussing their personal experiences of spirituality, science, religion and how they became artists. The NSW Vietnamese Elderly Friendship Association presented a range of traditional dances, taking the audience on a journey through the fertile lands of southern Vietnam, where the rich soil nurtures life, bringing the program of performances at Garden of Joy to conclusion. Garden of Joy was developed by guest producers Tammy and Thao, in response to the Within Heaven and Earth exhibition, and consulting with local community members. Event photography by Katy Cao

Huge shoutout to Tammy and Thao, the wonderful Co-producers of Garden of Joy, who curated a generous offering of performances and activities for visitors to experience and participate in. An afternoon set aside for us to come together, celebrate Southeast & East Asian arts and culture, and to cultivate a sense of collective joyfulness. Tammy is a multi-disciplinary artist and arts worker who has worked in film, theatre, photography and community work. In 2023, Tammy won the Fairfield Mayor’s Award for Creative Arts. Thao is a Vietnamese-Teochew professional artist & community arts worker who loves to work with community groups to create colourful and whimsical artworks.
