We had a Bombsquad show over the weekend but Saturday October 24th marked 20 years of Fading American Dream! This record changed a lot for us as a band and as people and it’s hard not to think it’s a miracle we made it through alive and in one piece. The best and worst of times. The message of this record is more relevant today than 20 years ago and we had such a wild time together logging all those miles on the road bringing it all over the world. Thanks Ted Hutt for the days and hours of tireless production.
The epk video was done by our friend Annemarije and the song you hear at the beginning was just a demo with no lyrics that years later turned into Stand For Something Or Die For Nothing.

Be sure to join us at @paradiserockclub December 18 for a celebration of this record. Ticket link in bio.

22 Billy shows and a few thousand miles later, I finally met my GOAT! @billystrings 🐐

Billy Strings is a hero of mine.
An idol, you may say.
The way I met him, you couldn’t believe.
Wouldn’t want it any other way. 🎶

He was in the pit at a metal show.
I took my chance to just say hello.
I gave him a hug and began to cry.
I couldn’t believe how nice was the guy. 🎶

I remember seeing Billy for the first time 6 years ago in Schaumburg, IL with @brendan_kaplan . I went in completely blind, but he assured me that, as a guitar player, I would love his show. Right he was! I remember hearing that acoustic guitar transform into a sonic, distorted voice, and I was hooked instantly!

Billy grew up in the Midwest and moved to Nashville to chase a dream. The studio where he records so many of his records is just a few minutes from my house near Belmont. I used to promote the hell out of his records while working retail at the Country Music Hall of Fame during college. 🤣

It’s surreal how much his music has followed me through different chapters of my life.
As a musician, where do I even begin with his influence? He inspired me to learn bluegrass, pick up the guitar and start from the ground up again, and write about the things that haunt me and the people I never got to say goodbye to. ♥️

And truthfully, if it wasn’t for Billy, I never would’ve met my best friend @alex.sanford_

In 2023, I went to Louder Than Life in Louisville by myself to see Pantera and Megadeth. While camped out under the Jack Daniel’s tent, I saw a jolly guy wearing a Billy Strings shirt. I complimented it, and we started talking.

That guy was Alex.

I went to that festival alone and came home with a best friend. Alex is one of the funniest, kindest, and most understanding people I know. I owe Billy a lot for the music he’s given me, but I’ll always be especially thankful for the people his music has brought into my life.

So yeah… Billy Strings is a hero of mine.
An idol, you may say.
I’m so thankful for this life.
Wouldn’t want it any other way. ♥️
