FROM JERSEY TO ANTIGUA & BARBUDA ☀️

You may remember the murals that transformed spaces across St Helier earlier this year as part of Art in the Arches, exploring the theme of Safe Haven. One of those artworks, created at Elizabeth Marina, was the first part of a special cultural exchange between Jersey and Antigua & Barbuda. And now the second half of that exchange is underway in the Caribbean!

Three Jersey artists, Aimée Cast @scallywagart_ Max Corbett @maxcorbett.art and Toby Norman @tobynormz are currently in Antigua, working alongside Antiguan artists Tse Pigott and Joyce Murray-Watkins to create a sister mural inspired by the landscapes, heritage and cultures of our two islands.

Working with Antiguan lead artist-curator Mark Brown and project curator Jacqueline Rutter the artists are spending a week sharing ideas, exploring their creative practices and bringing the new artwork to life.

The finished mural is set to be displayed as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua & Barbuda this November.

We've been receiving some wonderful photographs from Antigua, so here's a first glimpse of the island and the creative exchange underway. We'll be sharing more as the mural takes shape!

This cultural exchange has been produced by ArtHouse Jersey in partnership with the Antigua and Barbuda College for Advanced Studies, with support from the @governmentofjersey Government of Antigua & Barbuda and Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority

@_j.l_a.l_ SS27 @londonfashionweek presented like a sepia photograph of a hazy sunset.
A truly spectacular setting which still managed to allow the garments to take centre stage.

Suspicion grew, and the work was forced to descend. This collection explores a newfound home for the creations, a glimpse back into the past to uncover the origins of the lab in its early beginnings. A place where experimentation can continue unchecked. Somewhere below, the work continues.

ART IN THE ARCHES COLLABORATIVE MURAL WITH ARTISTS FROM JERSEY AND ANTIGUA & BARBUDA 💙

Jersey artists Max Corbett, Aimée Cast and Toby Norman are currently working alongside visiting Antiguan artists Tse Pigott, Joyce Murray Watkins and Trinity Hughes to create a collaborative mural for Art in the Arches 2026! Together they are exploring the connections that exist between island communities separated by thousands of miles with the sea becoming a common language through which stories, traditions and experiences can be exchanged.

The artists will meet again to complete a ‘sister’ mural in Antigua during the Common Wealth Heads Of Government summit. This international exchange has been developed in partnership with the Government of Jersey, the Government of Antigua & Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.

The powerful collaboration marks the final piece in our Art in the Arches project with 47 large-scale artworks created at Elizabeth Marina over the last three years 😊

Delivered in partnership with Ports of Jersey @portsofjersey and supported by Viberts @vibertslawyers
