As we wrap up 2024, our hearts are full reflecting on the incredible journey of our Summer Mentorship Program that touched so many young lives in Houston! From choosing books and critical thinking activities in July to watching our refugee youth present their community projects in August, every moment was filled with growth and inspiration. Our dedicated university students and alumni mentors created a space where English language skills flourished alongside dreams and aspirations. The transformation we witnessed was remarkable - from shy smiles to confident presentations, from hesitant readers to passionate storytellers. Each session became a stepping stone toward a brighter future, empowering our youth with not just language skills, but the confidence to shape their own paths.Special thanks to our amazing partners @hennah4help, @togetherwesmileuh, and @uplift.atx for making this impact possible. Together, we’re not just teaching English - we’re building bridges, fostering community, and creating lasting change. Here’s to more stories of empowerment, more dreams achieved, and more lives transformed in 2025! 💫Want to be part of our journey in the new year? DM us to learn about donation and volunteer opportunities! 🤝#YearInReview2024 #CommunityImpact #RefugeeEmpowerment #HoustonNonprofit #MentorshipMatters #EducationForAll #GivingBack #CommunityService #YouthEmpowerment #TeachingEnglish

🎒 Community Giving Event with Whole Foods Gateway 🎉
Last week, Uplift Texas partnered with Whole Foods Market Gateway to assemble 120 backpacks filled with school supplies and mental health awareness packets for students in Austin’s foster care system. 💼✨

Volunteers packed backpacks with essentials including:
-Pencil pouches with pens, pencils, and erasers ✏️
-Mental health packets featuring helpful worksheets and stress-relief fidget toys
-Personal notes of encouragement ❤️
-Notebooks and folders 📓📁

We are incredibly grateful to Whole Foods Market Gateway for selecting Uplift Texas to be part of their community giving program and for awarding us a $3000 grant to support our efforts. 🙏

A huge thank you to Jacob Summer from Austin Sunshine Camps, who has helped with the distribution. 🌞

Special thanks to Joseph Whitaker from Whole Foods for donating backpacks and school supplies, and to Abdul Rahman Ghani from TodayWeProsper for sourcing additional materials. Together, Uplift Texas contributed 120 backpacks and crucial mental health resources to help students thrive! 💪
